I checked this book out because hello- every flight attendant needs to read it right? I so did not realize that it had been written in 1967 by an author who was born in 1942! its about the glamorous days of flying (they werent so glamorous then either) and i had so much fun reading it. until i got to the chapter on "the homosexuals." i had to keep from burning the book and keep telling myself that it was written in 1967 by a really really old broad and hopefully by now her attitudes towards "the homosexuals" have changed. (her solution was to offer the homosexuals half price fares so the flight attendants would know who was gay and then they could seat all of the homosexuals in the back together.sad) other than that it was a fun read.

This was written back when homosexuality was an issue in the public eye. So if you're not open minded perhaps you should skip this book as it describes the era of flights. I don't believe this is meant to be offensive, it was just a different time back then. It gives you an idea of how the stewardesses of this time period had to represent the airlines, and the crap they had to endure with their passengers. They recount funny moments, serious ones, and risqué situations as well...for their time frame. An easy light read with short chapters and drawings that perhaps are to take up space? Take it or leave.

I have the original 1967 version not the reissue. This is a fun book- funny reflections on flying- my how things have changed.

I read this book while flying from Texas to Seattle. It was interesting to experience current day air travel while reading about the old style of air flying when it was truly an experience. It's an easy read with small chapters. This is not the current edition, but the first and only edition, there are no updates regarding the authors, but a small preface from the editor.

I can see how when it first came out it was probably very scintillating and sexy. Then then very end diverges into a glossary that should probably come first, but then again doesn't really matter because none of those terms were referred to in the first place.

Loved this book, light and airy snippets of the lives of flight attendants, back when flying was a special event. I can see Don Draper putting the moves on Trudy. I remember flying back in the day, in awe of the beautiful, poised, glamorous stewardesses. Now I got to delve into the inner circles and learn the secrets of those lovely ladies.
