What a great British mystery--the author does a wonderful job of setting the scene and the characters of Meredith Mitchell and Alan Markby and their frustrated (and frustrating) romance are very real and well-written.

Progress in the form of housing development has overtaken the small English village. When a body is uncovered, work is cut out for Inspector Markby. His charming friend, Meredith Mitchell, is on vacation in the area and helps with the case.
