Definitely one of Box's best Joe Pickett books, in which Joe's mother-in-law 'gets hers.' It has a somewhat complicated financial scheme, some action, and ties corners of the plot together well. Really enjoyed it as usual.

This is a very good series and Joe Pickett is a guy you can really like along with this family.

Another very good one however it does have a lot of description in it and it has a lot of people to keep up with and I had to look back a couple times to connect the people but it all comes together in the end.

Joe has to investigate his disliked mother-in-law's guilt or innocence in the murder of her new husband. Loved the ending.

One of my favorite series with Game Warden Joe Pickett and this was one of the best so far. Joe gets dragged into an investigation that he really doesn't want to get involved in. It has nothing to do with his official business, but instead his despised Mother-In-Law is accused of murdering her husband, and by the request of his wife Marybeth he starts an investigation on the gruesome murder of his father-in-law the Earl. Loved this book as with the others in the series his best friend and ally Nate Romanowski, also is on a tangent in this story that parallels with the main story . So many twists and turns that it kept me guessing right up to the very end. Writing and mystery at its best, top shelf-book shelf that is, as this is one I may want to re-visit someday-it was that good. Hats (probably a Stetson) off to C.J. Box who is at the top of his game!!

This is book 11 in the great Joe Pickett series by C.J. Box. Pickett is a game warden in Wyoming, and gets into a lot of pickles.
I recommend reading this series from the beginning, as Pickett's family is very young at the beginning, and with each book, kid's grow up, character relationships grow, but in every book is a great story plot, and great writing.
I highly recommend this series for both men and women. I'm always looking forward to the next in the series.
The first book in the series is Open Season, for those who would like to start.

Another good outing in the Joe Pickett series. In this one, Joe's mother-in-law, Missy, is accused of shooting her husband and hoisting him to the top of a wind turbine. This is Missy's 5th husband as she has made her way up in the world. Her husband, Earl Alden, has played the system to make his millions and Missy has found out that he planned to divorce her. But is Missy being framed? Could she have actually had the strength to hoist the body to the top of the wind turbine? Joe sets out to determine if Missy is guilty and along the way learns a lot about wind farms, government subsidies, and how the system can be played without any benefit to landowners or consumers. In a parallel story line, Nate Romanowski runs into tragedy and is seeking revenge. These two stories come together at the end along with a surprise ending I didn't see coming. Another strong recommendation for this one.

well I have liked all the c j box books. He tells you so much about the things that I just don't know about Wyoming, Montana, etc and I learned a lot about wind farms in this book. But just because they are informative does not mean they are boring. Joe works so hard to do the right thing and there always people opposed to this.I am trying now to read the whole series.Joe is always putting himself in harms way and then has to figure a way out of it.
