Eudora Welty is a well known & wonderful Southern author. There are 41 pieces in her collected stories. I loved all but a couple and that is saying a lot because 2 out of 41 isn't bad. Ms. Welty tells of the deep south and can make you believe maybe you've been there before. You can smell the dust and the biscuits baking, see the rain rolling in and hear the shuffle of old boots on a porch when she tells you a story. I'm really glad I picked this book up. It took me to places I enjoyed going and maybe someday go back to.

Finally read one of Ms. Welty's novels and really liked it, so got this volume of short stories. They are interesting, but I'm just not a short-story person. If you are, and like Southern stories, this one is for you.
This is a beautiful hardcover copy put out by "Barnes and Noble Modern Classics." Welty is a chronicler of life in the deep south and is the Pulitzer-prize-winning author of books such as The Optimist's Daughter and Delta Wedding. She is also a master of the short story, and this book collects all of them.
