Pretty good book! Engrossing horror tale about a madman named Toby Bones and his harrowing encounters with an innocent named Sherry and the people they encounter along the way. Richard Laymon is a great author, any horror or suspense fan will love this one.

Toby Bones is one very sick young man. Great plot involving a serial killer who stalks his favorite prey, baits a trap to reel her in, and then, once he's done with her, turns his predatory attentions to her completely oblivious family. The reader will have to ignore the fact that the female Toby has stalked (and done some pretty nasty things to) refuses to call the authorities despite SEVERAL opportunities to do so. Had she done so, it would have been a very short book indeed... Despite that irksome detail, Layman has written a truly scary tale that will have you checking your surroundings to make sure you're not being followed.

I'm a big fan of the horror genre, but this was my last attempt at trying to like Richard Laymon, and I just don't. The dialogue and characters in this book are stilted and unbelievable, which makes it hard to get invested in the story.

Thought it was a great read- read thru it in one setting. It's basically the story of a woman kidnapped by a psychopath who struggles to survive, ony to find out that there's worse things in store

Let me start by saying that I *love* horror and thriller books and that I am a Laymon fan. However, this book was just too much for me. Rape and torture are not things I like to read about. I finished the book because I wanted to see the heroine get her revenge, but, even that was anti-climactic. I realize Laymon likes to combine sex and violence--but, this book did not impress me.

Wow! if you are feint of heart this is not for you--When Sherry goes out to find her boyfriend in a scary neighborhood and runs into a student she had when she was substituting he offers to help her look for him after he makes up a story about seeing him walk off with another person. As the evening goes on Sherry finds herself in a very bad situation and gets her whole family into a scary situation.

I was dissappointed in this book...in fact I ended up just skipping several pages at a time because it seemed like some scenes just dragggggged on...

Not the greatest Laymon effort. A quick paced read, but and but the story is a bit un-believable. The subjects have several obvious means to escape the fiend or they could simply call the police at any time. Still a fun book. I'll be reading more Laymon

Sherry is getting nervous. When Duane left for the 24-hour Speed-D-Mart, he said he would be back in ten minutes, but that was twenty minutes asgo, and the store isn't someplace you'd generally want to go at this time of night. Then Sherry hears a noise from up the street. It could have been a car door slamming, or a backfire, but it sounded like a gunshot. Stephen King says "If you've missed Laymon, you've missed a treat."

Sherry tells herself she has nothing to worry about. Still, she puts on her clothes and heads out into the night. She's afraid of what she'll find, but she has no idea of what's really in store for her. If she did, she never would have left the safety of her home. And she never would have met a madman named Toby Bones...
