"A Common Life": an excellent book. *It reveals more details of the Father's and his bride's wedding than told in the other books, yet it also holds true to those other books' information. A lovely love story.

This really should have been No. 3 in the series so if you are reading the Mitford series make this the third book you read. You'll see why. It is a continuation of the love affair between Father Tim and his beloved Cynthia. Fantastice series of books!

"I have given my heart completely only once, and that was to Him. Now He has, Himself, set aside in my heart a room for you. It is large and open and suffused with light, with no walls or boundaries to stifle us, and He has graciously fashioned it to give us warmth and shelter and joyous freedom until the end of our days."
This is the story of the love and wedding of beloved Father Tim and artist Cynthia. Mature loved beautifully described.

I really enjoy reading all of the Jan Karon books in her Mitford series. She does such an awesome job of building character. This was just another good book telling more about Mitford.

Beautiful love story and sometimes humorous regarding this older bachelor marrying Cynthia. "It offers refuge from a harsh world"
says the Dallas Morning News.

I tend to gobble any book about Episcopal priests I can lay my hands on, and I've read most of this series. It's well written, but can get a bit too cloyingly sweet at times. This book apparently exists because faithful readers requested a book around the wedding. Would have liked a bit more about Dooley's feelings and perhaps some resolution there. As it is, there's a general sense that it's going to work out, but his feelings have the potential to be more fully worked out.

Another in the wonderful Mitford series - I have enjoyed each up-lifting book! The characters become like family and neighbors; you laugh and cry with each one; and as soon as you finish one book you can hardly wait to read the next.

I found this after I had read past it in the series. I just skimmed it and think I could have done without it since I was already past it and knew most of the information anyway.

I enjoyed this book, but didn't think it was of the same caliber as the first four. It goes back in time and tells the story including the perspective of some of the other characters.
