Sixth in the very cozy No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series set in Botswana, Africa. Though this series is definitely not heavy on the mystery, I love it, and each visit to Precious Ramotswe's world always leaves me feeling refreshed and hopeful. In this episode, there are issues with an intruder hiding under Mma Ramotswe's bed, one of the apprentices at Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni's garage quitting and getting involved with a rich older woman, Mma Ramotswe's first husband Note, a cruel and abusive jazz musician who has been away in Johannesburg, making a return visit to Gabarone, and Mma Makutsi taking dancing lessons. Enjoyable as always and hard to put down once you start one.

I really liked this one. I think it was as good or even better than the first in the series. The story is still, characteristically, warm and engaging, but the story line seems a bit more involved and the real-life problems of the region are also given some notice- lightly, but at least the author does recognize that everything is not peaches and roses.

Not a conventional mystery - a wonderfully charactered series unraveling the mysteries of human nature.

This is the best-written of the "No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" series, with the exception of the original. The other books felt like filler, but this one had lots of sub-plots and was very enjoyable to read. If you liked "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency," be sure to read this sequel!

I every much enjoyed this book and I think it is one of my favorites of the series. I really enjoyed reading about the personal lives of the characters. Smith has such an easy way of writing that I just feel like they are friends. I found this book charming.

I loved the book as Precious continues on with her delightful story finding out she was never married to Note and being very worried that she still was. Somone hiding under her bed gets squashed when she lies down on it for a rest and someone leaves her a very nice pumpkin.

This whole series by Alexander Mccall Smith is such a joy to read. You realize fast exactly how many things we have is our lives and how we could be perfectly happy with a lot less. The Characters come to life and you will not want to wait for the next book.

I have truly enjoyed every book in this series to date. This one was especially good because of the conflict over her marriage that Precious had. Rather than running from the conflict and confusion she faced it and came out much better for it.

Another great story in this series. A couple of new characters introduced who appear to be staying. This series is so very interesting for many reasons. The African attitude about life, love, harmony and everyday things is grand. Smith seems to know the people and that makes it really good. Entertaining and definitely cozy. Good clean reading.
