Another great one from Michael Connelly. In fact, one of the best of his that I've read. If you are from the L.A. area you will especially enjoy following Harry Bosch all around town and picturing it in your minds eye. The fact that I frequently drive to work right past one of the murder scenes depicted in the book kind of tickles me, I must admit. Even if you aren't familiar with L.A., the mystery will really grab you. It's really a modern day noir thriller.

Harry Bosch is on trial for killing an unarmed man believed to be a serial killer. However, a new body has been found and Harry is starting to believe that maybe he did kill an innocent man. This book jumps back and forth between the trial and the murder investigation. An awful lot of tedious court room drama and some exciting police work balance out this story. Another great Bosch tale.

If you love Harry Bosch, you love this one. He is about to be discredited again, but discovers a new twist on a 4-year-old case that redeems him. As usual, in his private life, Harry means to open up and have a "real" relationship, but his job leaves him little time to tend to such matters.
It's another good read from Connelly -- suspenseful and multi-layered.

The more I read of Connelly the more I fall in love with this author. The plot was delivered in such a way it kept me enticed until the end. The utilization of his characters is very creative. This was an excellent read and just makes me read more.

Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch, is one of my favorite detectives and this book highlights just how stubborn Harry can be when tracking down a killer. Even tho Harry is on trial in a wrongful death suit by a serial killer's widow, Harry is not too distracted to hunt down a ruthless copycat killer before he strikes again.

Connelly is really a good writer.

A nice blend of courtroom and whodunit mystery. Plenty of twists - some of which you can see a mile away and some of which catch you by surprise.

Captivating as all of Connelly's books are. However, I've determined that it helps to read his novels in chronological order because he almost always refers back to a previous plot.
Very good

Four years ago, L.A. Police Detective Harry Bosch shot and killed Norman Church, a man who he believed was a serial killer. Nicknamed "The Dollmaker", Church was thought to be responsible for the rape and murder of eleven prostitutes. Now Harry is a defendant in a wrongful death suit brought by Church's widow. Things are not looking good for his case when a new body is discovered. It looks like the work of The Dollmaker, except that the body is only two years old. Is there a copycat? Did Harry shoot the wrong man?
This is the third book in Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series. The mystery is engrossing. I loved the mixture of courtroom drama and hard-boiled detective investigating another murder. And I really like the character of Harry Bosch. He is smart, honest, and just wants to do what is right. The villain in this book was a complete surprise to me. I love when that happens. I highly recommend this book and suggest that you read the series in order. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

This was an intricate story with lots of twists and turns which holds your interest until the very end. I love the relationship between Harry and Sylvia. Bosch is such a complex character which makes the books very interesting and entertaining. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
This was the first Harry Bosch book that I've read. Now I want to find the others and read them too! Great book.
Harry Bosch mystery with two serial killers copy cats
good read overall
Connelly's best novel -- 2nd to the Poet.
Love Michael Connelly's style of writing.
Another excellent and exciting read in the Harry Bosch series! Well written - fast paced - interesting characters - twists and turns...!
This book had me guessing. I liked this one better than the previous two.
very good story. interesting twists and turns.
I am reading right now, but I can give a review because this is the second reading of this book for me. I read it 20 years ago,and it is typical Michael Connelly. Fast paced and hard to put down. Harry Bosch is my favorite book character, I can't get enough of him. I am always waiting for the next Bosch book from Connelly. I wanted my sister to start on a Michael Connelly journey so I actually got this one for her, but decided to read it again before I sent it to her...If you read this book you will not be disappointed.
Bosch is Great
enjoyed the book and allof Michael Connelly's so far.

Good book. I'm beginning to think Michael Connelly doesn't write anything BUT good books. This is another investigative/murder who-done-it type book where Harry Bosch is the man to call when you want to get things stirred up and see things start to happen. Harry may not have have the answers but he's stubborn and he'll stick to a case until he figures it out.

Hot off the presses - Mass Market, February 2007. More trouble with a T - for Det. Harry Bosch. It's a murder mystery, a courtroom thriller, an intensive mini-biography into the early life of Harry and it is FASCINATING!!
This is a great Detective Harry Bosch book. The Dollmaker was a ruthless serial killer and now there is a question as to who did all of the killings.

Another solid entry in the Harry Bosch series. Love the writing, the setting and the characters. Interesting story line grabs you from the first page and never lets go. I'm on to the next in the series. Highly recommend.
I love Michael Connelly's books, especially when Harry Bosch is involved. He lives on the edge and fears nothing. This book keeps you guessing and delivers in the end.
Another great Michael Connelly book. This is a great page-turner for the beach or anywhere else.

Another Harry Bosch - when the LAPD believe they have a serial killer dead, new victims appear...who did Harry kill?
I can't say enough good things about Michael Connelly and the Harry Bosch series. I'm on to the next one!
Harry Bosch is back! This one is about a particularly grisly seriel murder called the dollmaker. He leaves a macabre signature...keeps one guessing all the way. A book hard to put down.
One of a series of detective novels about catching and prosecuting a serial killer. Well-written, exciting, satisfying.
They called him the Dollmaker-the serial killer who stalked Los Angeles and left a grisly calling card on the faces of his female victims. With a single fautless shot, Detective Harry Bosch thought he ended the city's nightmare...
This is a frightening book but absolutely outstanding and a must-read for any who enjoy a good who-done-it! Must have.

Good stuff.
Good old Harry Bosch. Well done
Read the first 3 in this series now. .. ..great stories, this one was a little Perry Mason with some court room drama, but writin well and went ok. Bosch is a great character, witk almost an over the top personality. so 4.8 stars rating.
I was new to this author and loved it.
These mysteries really are better if read in sequence... so find the early ones and work your way up! Some great angles here.
Connelly at his best. Harry Bosch fans will not be disappointed!
GREAT GREAT GREAT! The more I read, the more I couldn't stop.
Connelly never dissappoints.
This is a good book, near the beginning of the Bosch series.
Harry sures gets into tough fixes. But, just like always, he gets out of them, too. A very fast paced, tension-filled tale.
I am just starting the Harry Bosch series. This is the third. Good read.
Another good Harry Bosch story
great cop betrayal book
Harry Bosch is on the trail of a serial killer who stalks Losa Angeles, and is supposed to be dead already! Now he must track down the killer a second time. One of the really good Connelly books in the Bosch series, a gritty and realistic portrail of LA and cop work.
Like all Bosch stories, multiple twists and turns.
One of the best Connelly thriller's I have read.
I love Michael Connelly. No other author makes me care more about what happens to the characters. I'm reading the Harry Bosch books in order, so this was my third. They're all great, but this is the best so far. In my own writing, Connelly is one of those I strive to emulate. I can't emphasize enough just how good he is.
Good book. I would recommend.
Another great Harry Bosch book!
Great book. Fun Read. Author has his usual ability to bring Life to the people in the story.
Good read
This was an excellent read-couldn't put it down! Has a few twists and turns for Harry Bosch this time!
The serial killer who stalked LA and left a grisly calling card on the faces of his female victims with a single faultless shot, Detective Harry Bosch thought he had ended the citys nightmare
Great book
This review is for the abridged audio cassette version.
There are quite a few reviews lauding the main character, Harry Bosch, and in my opinion he's a keeper (though his lady-friend seems a bit whiny).
This particular abridged version of the book is entertaining and satisfying, overall. The book has been abridged down to approximately 3 hours. I don't know if it's the publisher (Nova Audiobooks) or just the act of such heavy abridgement, but there are jumps and gaps that leave the listener (me) wondering, "How did he come to that conclusion?"
I think those jumps and gaps are to be expected, and the full-length version will (I assume) fill in the holes. This version is just fine, though.

The Harry Bosch series keeps getting better.
The Dollmaker, a serial killer terrorizing L.A., left a calling card on the faces of his female victims. With one shot, Det. Harry Bosch thought he had ended the city's nighmare. He was wrong. A new victim is discovered with the Dollmaker's macabre signature. For the second time, Harry must hunt down a killer who is very much alive, before he strikes again.
Like all of M. Connelly's books, The Concrete Blonde moves fast and has some unexpected plot directions. Characters are believable and fully personified.
The back of the book reads: The serial killer who stalked Los Angeles and left a grisly calling card on the faces of his female victims. With a single, faultless shot, Detective Harry Bosch thought he has ended the city's nightmare. Now, the dead man's window is suing for killing the wrong man, which rings true when a new victim is discovered with the Dollmaker's macabre signature. Now, Harry must hunt down a death-dealer who is very much alive, before he strikes again.
This is my 3rd book in the Harry Bosch series. I had never read anything by Michael Connelly. I enjoy reading series books. And now Amazon is doing a video series based on the books about Bosch.
I don't know where he gets his ideas but they are great
Third in the Harry Bosch series, a must read.
I LIKE THESE HARRY BOSCH DETECTIVE BOOKS. I HAVE READ THEM ALL I THINK. HAVE SEVERAL OTHERS LISTED IF YOU LIKE THIS ONE. THIS ONE IS ONE OF THE BEST AS FAR AS PLOT TWISTS. FAST PACED READ.
My favorite Bosch novel so far! Harry Bosch is on trial for the murder of Norman Church, the serial killer nicknamed The Dollmaker. However, police discover a prostitute that was murdered in the same manner as those in The Dollmaker's case. Is there a copy cat on the loose or is the killer still on the loose?? Page turner!!!
