This is a better than average historical romance with plenty of hot sex and likeable characters, but somehow the story seemed trite. The plot was nothing new by any means, and lacked depth, and yet I do recommend this book. I'm not much on historicals, other than Lisa Kleypas, however this one, although not nearly as engaging as a Kleypas novel, was quite entertaining.

This is the first time that I have read this author. I loved the book. I will be reading more from her. I liked that the book looks to be series and you did not need to read the books in order. This book has a lot of twist in it.

Fast moving story with likable characters. They're burdened with baggage from their pasts, of course, but not jaded or cruel ... thoroughly likable! I'm looking forward to the next installment and hope it will feature "that Colonial" Jennsen.

Regency period. Romantic hero who has harbored love for the heroine from afar for many years. Tension builds between the two as they come to know each other then finally love develops as heroines life becomes threatened.
Good dialog makes it an easy read with good development between h/h's characters. The ending was a bit abrupt for my taste but as I understand the author is planning to connect her characters in future stories and is holding off on an epilogue until later.
Good read - recommended.

Great book! Loved the characters. The mystery was not immediately obvious
