Sorry I can't agree with the other reviews; I thought this book to be very shallow.
It seemed to be sex scene after sex scene threaded together by a very thin storyline. Basically, a 20 year-old(old, for those times), spoiled medieval "princess-type" is betrothed to older, richer man. But she wants the hunk that is sent to fetch her. They want each other badly, give in to their baser passions (a lot), and live happily-ever-after only due to a fluke at the last minute. The characters and their actions, according to the times, were unrealistic, selfish, and strictly self-serving. I found that I actually disliked the spoiled heroine, her promiscuous maid/nanny, and the weak knight that succumed to her beauty. Perhaps this story would have made more sense set in the Regency or Victorian era, when women were more rebellious, but for the mefdieval era, this story just didn't make sense.

Great story. I so enjoyed all of the beautifully drawn characters. Adelstan is a man of honor charged with delivering a beautiful woman promised as bride to a lord he has served with. Sparks fly when he first meets Rhiannon and he has deep regret that sh is promised to another. The ending was quite a surprise, but very satisfying. I wish there were more than just the two in this series. A story about Adelstan's friend Dante would be great.
