Another good story from Winspear, although things slowed down at times. There were several different plot lines which all came together before the end. Most had satisfying conclusions, some didn't. And speaking of coming together, so did Maisie and Mark, although they were just as swiftly separated due to a world-shaking event. We'll see how that affects them in the next story.

Maisie Dobbs is a very interesting detective because her method involves not just gathering information but also intuitively thinking her way into the psyches of the various characters surrounding the case at hand.

This series also provides a valuable window on life in Britain during times of upheaval and stress.
