Do these words mean anything to you? Whole math, Whole language? What about " guidance counselors" providing illegal psychotherapy to children without parental consent or notification or history and past experience being just " trivia"? Does it matter to you that AMERICAN EDUCATION is a joke globally? Does it make a difference to you that our methods of education are an embarassment to this country and its values? Do you care if teachers are really not smarter than a fifth grader afterall they give out warm fuzzies to the kids and make them feel good about being so ignorant, afterall, they give awards for mediocraty and to boost their psychies that should count for something right? No! And this book tells it like it is and it does offer some very interesting ideas on how to correct some of these deficiencies and some I agree with such as making the pre-req's for teaching a bit more challenging and require more of the ones setting the academic example to the students. This book exposes many problems in the public school arena and it backs up all claims of significant drops in IQ levels in American children, and it does prove that teachers are less qualified and over paid. I loved this book. But Im a homeschooling mom and it very much motivated me to do even more. I am doing a grade ahead in math now and have doubled my efforts in math, spelling ,and geography after reading this book I am going to share it with up and coming school teachers as well.
Unless we as parents take our kids from public schools and put them in private schools or homeschooling we can expect more of the same bs and song and dance. Too bad for the teachers who are trying but they are swimming against the current and unfortunately this river is bound for a waterfall of problems and I for one dont want my children a part of it!My story at www.hope7.highpowersites.com and see why I feel that children have become guinney pigs for psychological experimentation.
