I figure there won't be any more votes on the list between now and tomorrow so I'm going to call it. We'll be discussing: The Best Recipes from the Backs of Boxes, Bottles, Cans and Jars by Ceil Dyer. Since a few people have already ordered and recieved theirs I'm going to say that we can start the cooking and discussion in two weeks to give everyone time to get a copy if they want one. You can of course pick your recipe and cook it before then if you have a copy already but lets give others time to get their books in before we start diving into the discussion. I think we should each pick one recipe to cook and discuss then have that done within a week of the deadline. If for some reason the deliveries of books are slow let me know about it and I'll push the dates forward so you've got more time. The current time tabel is ordering from now until July 14 and cooking from July 15 through 21 then discussion after that. |

Sounds good Chris. I'm just waiting for mine to be mailed out to me, should have it soon. |

Sounds good to me too. We could discuss this cookbook for quite a while, doing more recipes from it as the weeks go forward. |
|||
|

That is actually a good idea Carole, maybe a recipe a week for the next month or so. |

I just ordered my book. Hope it gets here soon. This is the third book I have ordered and haven't rec'd any so far. Only one has been mailed. Looking forward to participating.

I don't know if I can wait to long to cook. There's a whole chapter on pies. And pie sounds good for the 4th of July. |

Charlene the books usually take somewhere between a week and two weeks to be delivered though I've had some take longer than a month and some get to me the day after they were mailed. |

Charlene, if they used the postage feature here you can click on the details button in the top right corner of the section for the book that's on it's way. The DC will be tracked there. Not everyone uses the postage here though, you just have to check. |

I was thinking that we could have a cookbook thread on this book that is ongoing after the discussion month is over that we could post to as we do more recipes from it. |

I think I should have my book in my hands Monday or Tuesday. my goal is to see if I can find recipes that wont add pounds but will fit well into a low calorie diet, and I dont think that it gonna be too hard. |

I already made a recipe from this book and it is wonderful!! Can't wait to start this discussion. |

I should have my book by the weekend. Then I'm gonna look for recipe with lots of veggies. I'm so craving veggies right now, I think my body is telling me 'I want vitamins!!!!' lol!! Carole -- I think that would be a good idea and fun too. I know sometimes I look at pic of a plate of food and it looks awful to me, but in reality is taste super yummy and I will have missed out on a good meal. It's good to have others opinions on recipes. I know I appreciate it. |

I got my cookbook today, I need to go skim it and find something to make next week. |

I received my book and I've already marked about ten recipes I want to try. Now to figure out where to start! |

I was reading a cookbook last night, I mean really reading it. the little stories behind the recipes were also cute. I found a recipe that I adore. Chicken and yogurt and stuff. I found more that were interesting, but really do adore that one. |

Mine was just sent on the 3rd which I guess is yesterday. It says I should have it by the 30th
Hope you guys can wait for me.

Charlene they usually don't take the whole estimated time to get to you, if it was mailed yesterday you'll probably get it by the time suggested. Also like I said we can hold off if we need to, to allow people to get books if they are running late. |

Hi! I'm new to the group and I'm waiting for the cookbook to arrive, too. This is a neat idea. My library has a cookbook club - we get together every other month and bring samples of what we've made from the chosen book. Lots of fun! |

What a fantastic idea, Donna! A book club and potluck in one night. |

Welcome, Donna! |

If push comes to shove I'll just make something off the back of a box of Ritz or Philly cream cheese. |

I got my copy. Who knew it was going to be so thick. Not that I am complaining about the length of a cookbook. I mean it's not like we are reading the Historian is it? Just flipping thru it, I see something I've already made. The green bean casserole is one I've made, though once you make green bean casserole with fresh green beans the canned green beans just seem sad. I'll for sure try the peanut butter bacon sandwich. I'll let you know how it tastes. |

Last evening I marked several recipes in the salad category that I´d like to try. I´m looking forward to this. :-) |
