The recipes are great; the style of writing not as good. An enjoyable quick read if you like cozy mysteries and a couple of twists to the plot did keep me guessing, so I will probably look for more by this author, but at my library rather than using points.

This was a great book - 1st in a new series. The two women sleuths are funny and great at what they do. The murder in the alley behind the building where are girls are taking cooking classes is just the beginning. Looking forward to more books in this series.

1st in the Cooking Class Murder Mystery series. Annie and her best friend Eve start taking cooking lessons. Not only were their cooking lessons challenging, but soon their detective instincts took front burner roles in a murder which took place in the parking lot. Their prime suspect ended up being in their cooking class. I enjoyed this cozy mystery and both Annie and Eve made this mystery into a fun who-dun-it. I am looking forward to reading the second book in this series.

I enjoyed this. It was a fast read. Annie Capshaw can't even boil water. Her friend Eve signs the two of them up for a cooking class in order to get Annie out and about. Her husband left her the year before for the girl at the dry cleaner's and she has not been dealing well. After the first class Annie and Eve see another student arguing with a man, who they literally trip over in the parking lot. When Eve's ex fiancee, a policeman, ends up heading up the investigation, they decided to get involved and investigate on their own. Good characters.

I didnt like Eve and wondered how Annie could keep being friends with her. The mystery was well written and kept you moving along. I will read book two in hope that Eve gets less selfish and annoying. Maybe Annie will get a backbone and beyotch slap her.

This was a "cute" book. The writing seemed a bit flighty at first, or maybe it was because I had just read a book with a more serious tone, but it took me until about chapter 4 to really get into it. Maybe that was because that was when the cute Scotsman was introduced to the story...Anyways, it was a quick read, a little predictable, but nice. I read it in a about a day. Not bad for a beach type read. It is "ok" enough that I will probably read more in the series, but like someone else had said, I will check them out from the library and not use any of my PBS credits.

Overall, I really liked this book. I liked Annie and Eve quite a bit. After reading a review or two, I noticed Eve wasn't as popular as Annie. Personally, I know people like Eve in real life, so she seemed very real to me. Additionally, I just like the idea of 2 friends working together to solve a mystery. I've always thought that if I were to become an amateur detective in real life, that I'd have to work with a friend. I would need that other person to bounce ideas off, if nothing else. Plus, I would feel safer if I had a friend with me when dealing with possibly dangerous situations. :) Now, my biggest problem with the book was the ending. It wasn't as strong as I would have liked, but it wasn't bad. I think the author was a touch lazy about some of the finer points when it comes to believability, but it wasn't so unrealistic that I felt dissatisfied by it. A big plus, though, is that one of the recipes supplied at the end of the book sounds really good and I think I'm actually going to try it. (It's bacon pinwheels... Honestly, the name alone sounds great to me!) I look forward to reading more in this series and I have a feeling they will get better with each installment. :)

I have really enjoyed this cozy mystery series!

Eve and Annie start a cooking class, and stumble onto a murder. The way they figure out who done it is written very well with cute comments along the way. ~ with a little bit of Romance thrown in.

If you like cute cozy mysteries, you gotta check this one out!

First in the series, this is a so-so effort. Annie is an appealing sleuth, but Eve is hard to like. The motivations aren't bad, but the mystery itself was thin and unbelievable. The barely there romantic sub-plot was just wrong. I may pick up the next one if I stumble upon it, but I won't go looking for it and I would hope that Eve fades into the background.

This was a good book. It was fast paced and kept you wondering with little bits of info dropped in along the way. The motive behind the murder is not easily guessed, but the culmination of the story is very good.
