I enjoy his books about life in small town Wisconsin and this was no exception. It's really a series of stand alone articles gathered into book form about his life past and present. Would recommend it.

Perry's rambling style is perfectly suited to this journey through a year in which he and his family attempt to provide for themselves on a small Wisconsin farm, deliver their baby at home, and suffer a tragic loss within the family. Arguably the best part of the book are his reminiscences about growing up on a dairy farm.
This book overflows with his feeling for the land and his connection to the generations that have gone before. You may puzzle at some of the decisions the family makes, and grin at his ten-thumbed approach to building construction, but you'll also feel right at home on Popcorn Sunday.
