Don't read the description here or on the dust jacket - it says too much. This is one of the best entries so far in what is consistently an excellent series. It is suspenseful, and introduces new characters from Cork's extended family that the reader will quickly come to care about. I read it in one day. (Okay, I was on vacation yesterday, but that is not the point).

Sixth in the series. Cork O'Connor is hiding out at his cousin's house from the contract placed on his life by a rich guy. But a young girl is found drowned in the river nearby, then a young man is deliberately hit by a car, the father of a teenager's friend is murdered. Of course Cork will get involved. I liked this one much better than the last which had Cork's family angst muddying the story, although it remains a subplot here. Krueger is excellent at setting a scene, I always have a good inner picture about where they are. A new reader could start here without too many disconnects.
