Koontz again falls in love with his characters -- richly drawn and compelling. Full of hope, wonderment, family love, and good and evil. A real thriller!

This is a wonderful Koontz book. It starts off fast and keeps up the pace. This book is about a boy who is blind and has an enemy, who even the enemy doens't know the boy is his enemy.

It is worth reading again, and again. I loved it, read it twice. It is time to make room on the shelves for new books and let someone else enjoy the memory of this one. Oh and I won't spoil a bit of this, but you will love the way they talk about the inbetween.... You have to read it to find out what that means. You will like it as much as I did. Promise

This is my favorite by Koontz, it's a wonderful mix of suspense and fantasy.. wish he was still writing in this same vein.
Helpful Score: 4
This is about a lot of murder and mystery. One boy loses his sight and later mysteriously regains it later. There is one evil killer, and a lot of very courageous people .Very good if you like mystery and murder.

A very interesting and unique Koontz which spans 3 generations. Koontz goes off on a very sprititual tangent with this one.

This book holds its own very well among Dean Koontz' best work. I highly recommend it!
Helpful Score: 4
Very good book, interesting characters that each have their own special reason for being brought together. I love Dean Koontz books, his description of each character and the way they are developed through the story is very thought out.

First Dean Koontz book I've read with so many characters, but I could not put this one down!
Helpful Score: 3
This is the story of a boy who loses his sight. And then mysteriously regains it. It is the story of a courageous band of seekers. And a relentless killer. It is the story of all that is right with the world. And all that is terribly wrong. It is the story of a revelation so terrifying and so sublime, it can only be glimpsed....
Helpful Score: 3
Although I'm a Koontz fan, this is my least favorite of his books...it was too "heart warming" for me. But if your into that stuff, read it.

Another great Koontz novel!

Could not put down, just loved every second of the twist.
I refer to a lot of things now as the "inbetween"... I just loved that..
Once you get this one you wont' want to give it up, since you know you will want to read it again and again.

Slow in the beginning. Had a hard time at first getting into it. Turned out to be very good!

Again, Dean Koontz manages to scare me. Awesome characters and a great storyline. I cried and laughed and enjoyed every minute. I wanted to live next to these people and be their friend. I wanted to help the Pie Lady and meet Barty. Not sure why it took me 8 years to find this book but sure glad I did.

This is my favorite Koontz book.It is suspenseful and captivating in every sense of the word.If you are a Koontz fan you know that he is an author that always provides "food for thought". I would say this is his most powerful in that regard. It is about choices and doing what is right rather than doing what is easy.
Helpful Score: 2
Koontz's heroes and villains are written quite simplistically on one level; this book's depiction of evil versus good through his characters is no exception. But by making his characters interesting and creating a plot with almost non-stop action, the author succeeds in giving his readers yet another book that's hard to put down. This book has over 700 pages but I read it in one weekend. In between, I ate and slept. Koontz writes some of my favorite "candy" books and in this case, the "candy" is something on the order of Godiva chocolates.
Helpful Score: 2
If you're a fan of Koontz' Odd Thomas series, you'll like this book. It weavees three or four stories seemingly not connected into one. As usual, Koontz puts a paranormal spin into his writing. I really enjoyed this book. I found myself really drawn to the characters, as he develops them quite fully. A good read, a good message, but with Koontz's spin on the oddities of our world and all things possible.

An older Koontz book, but very gripping. I couldn't put it down, until I finished it.
Helpful Score: 1
This was such an awesome book -- I totally fell in love with some of the characters, was terrified at times and cried at times as well as laughed out loud. Koontz can sometimes be a lil too descriptive, but it helps you to connect to the characters and what they are feeling -- this was a very good book. I simply could not put it down

This book keeps you going with several plotlines that weren't too confusing. Although you could not finish this book in one sitting, it is very long, it is one of those that you go to sleep with it and wake up to it. I didn't care for the ending, it felt rushed which was very disappointing with such a wonderfully written story up until then.
A must read for mystery lovers.

One of Dean Koontz's best
Helpful Score: 1
Dean Koontz is one of those authors that includes twists and turns throughout his books. Just when you think you know what will happen next, it doesn't! He brings many different characters into "From the Corner of His Eye", and skillfully pulls them all together in ways that make perfect sense. This book will keep you reading, and make you want to read more. Excellent story line involving children and the parents who love and try to understand them.

I really enjoyed reading this one from Koontz. His writing has shown so much maturity as the years go by especially in books like this one, where he shows off his spiritual side. Of course there is a killer, who is chasing our heros and heroines through the story, but he develops each and every character so I felt I knew each one well. Dont worry its not sappy, but it is Koontz pitching good against evil in a way that at the end made me smile.

I guess, according to the reviews, that I am one of the few who doesn't like this book. I thought the story dragged on, and on, and on. Too many pages of not a lot of action and then an ending that just went flat. Koontz had some very cool ideas here, but it wasn't executed very well.

This is a wonderful story. Barty is such a sweet and beautiful character. Koontz vivid imagination and story weaving skills shine. One I have gone back and reread again.

I think that this is one of Dean Koontz best novels thus far. I feel that it stands alone for the way he shaped the story and characters that is distinct from many of his other works. If I wanted to introduce a reader to Dean Koontz, I would start with this book.
I could not put this book down! I think it is one of his best books...certainly one of mine!
Another pleaser from a consistent writer!
This was one of the better Koontz books, I couldnt wait to pick it up again to find out what happened next. There is always something magical about his stories, how good always triumphs over evil, but not without geat sacrifice. These characters are real and there are many of them that are intricately woven into the twists and turns of the story. A great read!
Makes one kinda wonder what's really going on???
I couldn't get into this one. In the beginning, the two separate story lines was too confusing. I gave up after about 65 pages(622 total).
awesome book...couldn't put it down....don't think i will post it til i read it a second time.

My number 1 favorite Dean Koontz book. Absolutely wonderful, shocking, entrancing. Another non-stop read.
This is the first of Koontz's novels that I read, and I was thoroughly impressed with his writing abilities, quirky paragraphs, and incredible storytelling. The story is slightly bizarre, but you will love (and hate) the characters. A good read!
I wasn't as impressed with FTCOHE as I was with the other Koontz's books I've read. I thought the summary on the back of the book was misleading as to who the main character was & what the plot mainly was. Still, it was an entertaining read.
Takes a little while before turning into a fairly thrilling read. Parallel story lines with plenty of foreshadowing. At first, very overwritten, but by the end you get into the spirit of the flowery language.

from cover to cover. It is the story of a courageous band of seekers. And one very very relentless killer. How a power bring a group of people who do not know each other, together by a

One of Dean Kootz's better stories. I loved the charactors and the suspense of the story. This was one I had trouble putting down.
Couldn't put it down!!!
I enjoyed reading this book very much.
A thriller that becomes inspirational.
Enjoyable Koontz horror fiction.
Really enjoyed the characters and the message. One of my favorites!
Good Fast Paced Koontz book, once you get into it. Started a bit slow as he laid the groundwork for the overall story. If you enjoy Koontz books you will enjoy this one as well!
Pretty good. Typical Koontz.
this is one of his better books...youll love this one...
The first Dean Koontz book I've read, and I was surprised. I might summarize it as Michael Crichton mixed with a mystery/detective writer. The introduction of the villain was quite surprising, and one of the unusual aspects of this book was the amount of time spent following him. I was annoyed, however, at the amount of mysticism in the book, which was then explained away, but not completely. In particular, a fortune-telling with playing cards was partially explained, but remained mysterious. The references to quantum mechanics were not realistic, but the author realized and more or less apologized for this literary device. The other troubling aspect of the book was that the villain was a self-reliant atheist (and a lunatic) and most (all?) of the heroes were religious types. I don't know if I will requested another Dean Koontz book yet....
This was our book club selection for the summer and what a book! This has everything in it from detectives, love, mysticism, and psychology, just to name a few. I was enthralled from the first page and was carried through to a conclusion that was peaceful and heartwarming. Needless to say I loved this book.
GREAT! GREAT! GREAT! BOOK! WOW!!!!!
I thought it was a good story and great page turner.
This is a very good read.
One of the better Koontz books....haunting...stayed with me a long time after finishing it.
Typical of Koontz.. awesome as always! This is the story of a boy who loses his sight and then mysteriously regains it. It is the story of a courageous band of seekers and a relentless killer. It is the story of all that is right with the world and all that is terribly wrong. It is the story of a vevealation so terrifying and so sublime, it can only be glimpsed. A first rate thriller.
Koontz looks heavenward for inspiration in his newest suspense thriller, which is chock-full of signs, portents, angels, and one somewhat second-rate devil, a murky and undercharacterized guy named Junior Cain who throws his beloved wife off a fire tower on an Oregon mountain and spends the rest of the novel waiting for the retribution that will surely come. But not before a series of tragedies ensues that convince Junior that someone or something named Bartholomew is out to exact vengeance for that crime and the series of other murders that follow.
great book
a child who loses his sight, but still sees
I enjoyed the first half of this book, but by the 3/4's and 4/4's I was struggling to even finish it. I kept expecting more, and got less. I know some people truly love this book, and though I understand why, I don't agree. It leads to an ending that it doesn't deliver upon, leaving you feeling as though you were cheated of the proper climax. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
Fast-paced and a quick read, I just wish the ending of some of Dean Koontz's books didn't wander off aimlessly. However, the first 3/4 of the book make it well worth the read.
Bartholomew Lampion is born in Bright Beach, California, on a day of tragedy and terror, when the lives of everyone in his family is changed forever. On this same day a ruthless man learns he has a mortal enemy named Bartholomew. He does'nt know who he is, but he embarks on a search that will become the purpose of his life. If he finds the right man he will deal mercilessly with him. And in San Francisco, a girl is born, a result of a violent rape. Her survival is miraculous, and her destiny is mysteriously linked to the fates of Barty and the man who stalks him.

Quote in front of book:
"Each smallest act of kindness reverberates across great distances and spans of time, affecting lives unknown to the one whose generous spirit was the source of this good echo, because kindness is passed on and grows each time it's passed, until a simple courtesy becomes an act of selfless courage years later and far away. Likewise, each small meanness, each expression of hatred, each act of evil."

Bartholomew's own troubles begin with his birth, which transpires moments after his father is killed in a traffic accident as he is taking his wife to the hospital, and continue with the loss of his eyes at the tender age of 3. Young Bartholomew has visionary gifts, though to his mother, a nice lady who's renowned for her pie-making abilities as well as her sweetly innocent nature, he's just a particularly smart kid who can read and write before his second birthday. Eventually, Bartholomew regains his sight, Junior Cain gets his comeuppance, and fate conspires to bring love into the Pie Lady's life, reward the faithful, and put a happy ending on this genre-bending tale.

I would have to say this is Koontz at his best. I was in tears my page 43. Cannot put this book down! Have been a Koontz fan since I read Phantoms many years ago (borrowed it from my sister and wouldn't give it back!). If you like Koontz at all, this book is a must read. If you are new to Koontz, start w/this and you won't be disappointed.
