"When staff and students of Balaclava College assembled on the banks of Oozak's Pond they were not prepared to find a corpse bobbing in the water. They were less prepared to find the corpse bearing an unnerving resemblance to Balaclava Buggins, long-dead founder of the institution. As Professor Shandy struggles to identify the corpse a fresh calamity hits the College when a suit is brought for possession of Oozak's Pond. Worse still, the instigator of the suit and his wife are found dead in bed. Their daughter is married to the Security head and their niece to the Library Director. Shandy is soon struggling in a cat's cradle of clues."

A light-hearted fun mystery as so many of MacLeod's were. This one features Prof. Shandy of Balaclava Agricultural college.

Charlotte MacLeod's zany mysteries are intriguing. I wish she had written many more before she had to stop.
