Really enjoyed this one! Non-stop action from start to finish. There were several story-lines going throughout the book and I thought they were all well-done. These included the first part of the book about the capture of a Somalian pirate - then the main story-line of the terrorists who capture the Secretary of State on her way to a Libyan peace conference and the quest for the Barbary pirate's or "Corsair's" lost writings that could help pave the way for peace. Some of this was straight out of Indiana Jones - especially the booby-trapped cave with the lost pirate's treasure, but even with the very far-fetched situations and outcomes, this overall was a great action novel. I read on the internet that Jack Du Brul was really the main author of this book - writing from an outline by Cussler. Du Brul has written several books on his own - I may try to find some of these to see if they hold up with the books he has written with Cussler. The Oregon File novels are great!

Great read. The book contains two of my favorite themes: archeology of the past and technology of the future.

I love history mixed with fiction, this story has me going to look up real people to see how close this story comes to our history. Mr. Cussler knows how to get into and out of trouble that makes you think..ya that's possible. Ya gotta read this one.

If you like action packed movies, you'll love this. It's one exhiliarating event after another in a well developed adventure story. It's a little hard to believe the characters can survive it all but you don't really have time to stop and ruminate.

Corsairs are pirates, and pirates come in many different varieties. There are the pirates who fought off the Barbary Coast in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, the contemporary pirates who infest the waters of Africa and Asia, and the pirates...who look like something else.

I liked learning about the history of the pirates in the 18th and 19th century and about Lafayette and the early explorers, Captain William Baimbrige, Captain Stephen Decatur and Admiral Charles Stewart. I thought all the characters were pretty interesting and I liked the role Linda Ross had in fighting Assad's men. The action and adventure scenes were very entertaining but the technical information was a bit much for me. I wish there were more dialogue between the characters during the adventure scenes as I believe that would make it much more enjoyable. I found the plot a little weaker from the past books but I still found the book a fascinating read. I would highly recommend Clive Cussler's book to those who like adventure reads.

Modern-day pirates... a conspiracy of ancient power... Juan Cabrillo is back in action. "just about the best storyteller in the business." (New York Post)
