Light reading. I am not sure I completely liked it, maybe it was that there were too many embarrassing situations the herioine got herself into, maybe too many references by the heroine about her weight (it got annoying). But it was humorous and overall I would recommend it to someone looking for a fun read. Sometimes I couldn't believe the things that came out of the heroine's mouth.

This is the second book by Macalister I have read. There were parts that I laughed and then got the down right giggles. I do not normaly laugh at romance novels but this was funny. Parts of the book are a bit choppy and the story line sometimes gets lost in the relationship of the characters but still well worth the read. Murphy's law rules in the Corset Diaries.

I was really looking forward to reading this book. Cute sounding twist on the norm. I tried, I really tried to like this book. I just could not seem to be able to like the main characters enough to care overly much.

Intriguing premise but falls flat and becomes a typical/traditional romance. Some of the 'modern' versus Victorian clashes were amusing, but in the end it's what I call a dispoable book -- one I don't regret reading, but feel no need to read again.

very cute & sassy. It was fun to have a heroine that was a not so perfect size with a more than perfect heart. The only thing I wish was thatshe hadn't wined so much about her not so perfect figure, but then again, thats what most of us normal chicks do no matter what our size.

This was the first Katie Mac I ever read, and is still one of my favorites. The plus-size heroine, hunky hero (with surly adolescent daughter) & supporting characters are all hilarious! I hated it when the book was over - if you get this one, be sure & read it somewhere that you won't be embarrassed to be caught howling out loud. I got lucky & read it at home, where the only person to see me snorting & wiping tears from my eyes was my son... :-)

A fun, light read about a volumptuous Yank thrust into a month of wearing a corset while re-enacting a Victorian Manor House. Think PBS special rated a heavy "R" plus pratfalls & some witty dialogue. Fluffy, but engaging enough for me to consider reading more of MacAlister's work.

Fluff, but funny. I like the author's "dragon" stories better than this - the ending seemed rushed and somehow unsatisfying, but it was still a fun, funny read.

I did find it annoying after a while the constant banter between the 2 main characters (esp during the sex parts) I found myself saying aloud "shut up already". didn't really explore any of the characters enuf so ended with not knowing (or caring about them)them really. guess it was too much going on with too many people. overall a nice quick/fluffy read for a saturday afternoon when you don't want to think too much.

Katie MacAlister is stretching it here, to me. The heroine is a larger woman forced to wear a corset for a while. I don't think the torture of the situation is fully explained. The love story here seems a little fast and forced to me as well. Not her best effort, and not as good as her vampire series.

Tessa is a plus sized American who goes on an English TV show. The show is designed to show how people (a Duke and his family and their servants) lives in the Victorian times. Tessa got the job because she was a distant relation to an American who married an English Duke. Max, who plays the Duke, is also a distant relation of the Duke who married the heiress.
Tessa's 1st person narration was laugh out loud funny. But (yeah you knew there was a but!), she was very self-conscious about the size of her body (she is 6ft and a size 18). When it came to Max, I liked the he was attracted to her just as she was. I also liked she was a little older than him (39 to 34). But, the 5 year gap mattered more to Tessa than it did to him. Which was very annoying considering Tessa's husband was 20 years older than her (who died from cancer 3 years prior).
This was a fun, escapist read.

This is one of Katie Mac Alister's earlier books (a stand alone). I thought the premise was very funny, especially if you like 'reality' TV. I think that Katie became more confident in her writing as the years have gone by, but if you want to see where she started definitely check this book out.

"I HAVE TO WEAR WHAT???"
No woman in her right mind would consent to wearing a corset for a month. Especially a "skinny-challenged" woman like myself. But dreams of being debt-free danced in my head when I received the offer to appear on a reality TV show.

A month in the Life of a Victorian Duke is about real people-like me-pretending to live on an English estate, circa 1879. Sounds fun, no? Well, it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. We're talking no televisions, no cell phones, no PMS medication. And did I mention the corsets? No breathing for a full month. Luckily, when I met the real - life duke who was to be my pretend husband, he took my breath away....

In a manor in which everyone must strictly follow the Victorian lifestyle, things were bound to go wrong. Like when some harmless lust turned into that other thing...
Love was definitely not in the contract.

Called at the last minute to act as the Duchess in an English reality documentary Tessa starts her adventure. After a long flight, exhaustion, and sickness she arrives at her temporary home. This is when she discovers that she will be wearing a corset daily for the next month! Acting the part of the upper class might not be as easy as she first though.
Then there's Max, the Duke. Yummy.
This is a fun tale of romance, comedy with some history thrown in for good measure.
This is written in diary form which give the feeling of being a fly on the wall. I recommend this one!
