I was not very impressed with this book. The language in it was simply too "gangsta" for my tastes. Words like "boo" "sista" "Negro" and "brotha" appear on every page. Black men are stereotyped as lazy cheaters, and the women as insecure, promiscuous individuals.

The characters in this book are supposed to be educated, successful women, but they spend the whole book drunk, vengeful, and sleeping around. I also think that a supposedly highly educated woman should be able to use proper English, at least most of the time. It would have been very easy to keep this book ethnic without resorting to street slang as a crutch. A bit of slang is fine, but when every conversation features it, it gets very old very quickly.

One last pet peeve...the women that wrote this book made a huge deal about being Christians, and that the main characters are "church girls." The behavior of the characters is about as far from Christian as it gets. Pick a side and stick with it please! Either behave as Christians or don't but don't tout the book as a religious read, then have vivid sex scenes, copious drinking, lying, cheating, abortion etc.

I have read thousands of books, and only reviewed a dozen or so, but this book left such a bad taste in my mouth that I had to review it.
