Zoe Caulfield was devastated when the man she thought was going to propose suddenly breaks off their relationship to return to his ex-wife. A year later, Dr. Kurt Lansing regrets his decision. He has left his wife and returned to town to open a clinic. The local high school will provide students for volunteer work. Their teacher, Zoe, will have to work with Kurt to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Zoe is having difficulty getting over Kurt. Her friends are concerned and the students who love her are not happy to be working with the enemy. Kurt apologizes over and over, but is still having a hard time getting Zoe to trust him again.
I love how Kathryn Shay always throws real life problems into her stories. I stop to think if I would be able to forgive Kurt for his actions. I also love how she includes interesting secondary characters like the students in Zoe's class. These are well-developed characters with their own set of problems. You wonder if they will get their own books someday. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
