Has anyone ever tried couponing at CVS? I haven't yet because it confuses me. I usually consult couponmom for deals instead of trying to figure them out by myself. Here is a deal that's supposed to be going on right now:

-Buy 2 Aveeno lotions 2.5 oz. Each are $3.49 and there is a manufacturer's coupon for $3 off. But then you get $7 extracare bucks, which will end up giving you a profit of $1.51 after the purchase of the two lotions.

Does this mean the coupon will print from the register after I purchase the lotion, to be used on my next purchase? So, I'll be paying out of pocket today but next time I go, I'll get $7 off?

I think so. and make sure you don't use the $7 you get to purchase the same deal or even use it on the same transaction - hopefully a 'pro' will chime in here but I know from experience and someone here telling me that that's what happened to me once at walgreens and I'm assuming cvs may be the same way.

Yes, you will get a coupon known as an EB printed on your receipt. You can use it for you next transaction which can be the same day. Check out www.iheartcvs.com for more info on how the EBs work and also sales coming up. I use another website that couples the sales with coupons - it is www.southernsavers.com. Last year I bought about $1,080. 00 worth of stuff at CVS for approx $150.00. I don't have my numbers with me to tell you exactly but it is a true money saver if you work it right. PM me if you have specific questions and I will try to help.

WAnda is it true that you can't use the EB to purchase the same deal it was given for? seems like walgreens did that to me - I had a RR from buying toilet paper and I used it when buying more toilet paper and it didn't print out - the manager gave me one but I found out later why it didn't print.

That is generally correct. You will see a limit on the deals - most are limit of 1 but occasionally there is a limit of 2. I haven't been doing much with CVS lately. Around the holidays, they seem to slack off on their freebies. I guess they think you are spending money anyway so you may as well spend it with them!

krazycouponlady.com uses CVS as an example for her savings.  She has some great ideas! :)

I am way late to this discussion, but, because the Aveeno promotion had no size restrictioins, I bought 2 travel size bottles of Aveeno lotion for $1.49/each which cost me $3.16 ($.18 sales tax added) and got the $7 ECB.   I love CVS.

Little known fact I just learned.

You can make purchases at Rite Aid and CVS with a JC Penney Rewards Credit Card.  Why in the world would you do this?

Well, I wouldn't do it myself unless I was sure I'd pay the bill in 30 days, because JC Penney has a high interest rate.

But they do have rewards based on what you spend each month, and if making your CVS or Rite Aid purchases with that card would help you meet your goal, it might be worth it.

As for me, I live far from the nearest CVS or Rite Aid.  I get most of my pharmacy purchases at Wal-Mart, occasionally Walgreens.

I highly recommend this site, especially for CVS:

http://www.weusecoupons.com/upload/cvs/

Back when I was a heavy coupon user, I frequent this site. But now with school and work, I barely have time to do coupon.

Here's one of the my best shopping experience, where I made almost $10 from shopping @ CVS, lol.

Cassie,

Did you try CVS? I just totaled up my spending at CVS for last year. I bought $1,054.17 worth of products (their retail plus tax) and spent $260.19. It really works once you learn the system.

I still has a $10 gift card earned last week from CVS 's purchase.  Well, they always have a cycle on sale on different products, if you can wait for coupon & when they are on sale at CVS  or has extrabuck earnings,, then you can save a lot.  I always get my Loreal lotions less then $10 when they are on sale plus every $50 spending on beauty purchase including your shampoo...will get you another $5 cashback.  Everytime I scan my key scan, there 's always $5 extra buck or $5 off $25 purchase.

we have a 24 hour cvs. I like to go in there for snacks after work being I work the night shift. I asked the clerk if the coupons were printed just for my rewards card number, and she said yes they were matched to my number. I agree with the jc penny card they are one of the worst to use.

They usually send 20-30% or $5 off $25/$3 off $15 coupons every ...I dunno few weeks? So I wait to buy certain expensive-ish items (like shaving razor refills) until I get a 25% off coupon and then buy the largest pack they have... that way I get the cheapest price per unit and it lasts me until I get another good coupon!

Also, regarding ExtraBucks, sometimes I'll split my purchase into two separate transactions so they print out with the first round of items and then I use them on the second round of items. That way I can use the EB right away and not have to worry about forgetting about the coupon in my wallet or losing it. Obviously I wouldn't recommend this at regular checkout with a cashier or if there's a very long line, but if you're at self checkout and the store is fairly empty, then why not?

If I know certains products go on sale quite regularly (for example, Herbal essences shampoo) then I'll start checking the store when I'm running low and buy it when it's on sale rather than waiting til I run out then am forced to possibly buy it at full price

......I'm a college student , girl's gotta save a buck or two everywhere she can, right? :p

My husband and I have been told that the ExtraBucks do not really expire.  We just recently used one with a March 2013 expiration date.  The cashier just types it in manually.

thanks, Mary,I've been upset over the extra bucks exp dates cause often when I get them they are only good for the next 48 hours. If I'd known that I would have purchased only half of what was in my cart, gotten  the extrabucks printout from the first purchase, then used it on the purchase of the rest of what's in my  cart!

I just lost $4 due to not using an EB coupon by the date.  They scan them in here in Athens Georgia and the computer automatically kicks them out if the date has passed.  : (

Locally here in MI, we have been told that they can only take Extra Bucks for 2 weeks past the expiration date.  Then they took them anyway - just this time.
