Julie was married at 16 to a man who really didn't want to. After their marriage, he leaves. Fast forward 8 years. Nick's cousin is scheming and wants the dukedom. Julie is also dependent on him and he isn't giving her the stipend she needs. So she takes lessons on seduction with the goal of seducing Nick and getting pregnant. She goes to Italy where Nick has been.
I hated Nick. What an asshole. He had no redeeming qualities. I didn't see the connection with Julie and I didn't like how he treated her. I wanted to slap Julie for being so stupid. The 2* is generous because I did like the writing.

Here is my advice: read the first two or three chapters. Then, skip to the middle of the book to get the real story. The first half of the book describes the successful seduction in detail. That may be good for some readers, but not for me. I did like the characters so intend to finish the series. I always want to know how the supporting cast fares in their lives. Your decision: read or not!
