I really, really wanted to like this book. The storyline was intriguing, as were the characters.

However, I kept thinking "huh?", what's going on?

I understand that authors want to keep their readers in suspense throughout the book. This book just left me puzzled. No clue throughout the book as to 'why' things were they way they were until near the end. And then, it still didn't clear up matters.

Why did the other pack members decide to kill Natalya out of the blue one evening but later in the book we find out that the Pack Alpha of the other pack is 'out for her' and has been for a long time? Why did it take him 5 years to find her when she hasn't been hiding?

Another 'why' is that she's out of the pack & gets the crap treatment from her family & then miraculously they're all treating her wonderful. And, she's still not pack. Don't get it.

The list goes on.

Since it was a library book, maybe I'll TRY to read the next in the series. Maybe the writing will get better.

I enjoy reading books where there is more than one supernatural creature in it if it's relevant. In Coveted, Madison does an impeccable job of world-building, making the other supernatural creatures, such ans wizards and nymphs, a great addition to the storyline. Nat's ex-boyfriend, Thorn, left her over five years ago, but she's never gotten over him. She turned her attention toward obsessively hoarding Christmas ornaments.

If that isn't bad enough, now the pack, that she's out on the outs with, is being attacked and she's their first target. Luckily, Thorn has returned to town to resume as the Pack's Alpha and can try to help keep her safe, but can she keep her heart safe? She still hasn't come to terms with his abandonment from before, she's not sure if she's ready to get close to him again and risk it, even if the same spark is still there.

Coveted is a page-turning read with engaging and compelling characters! Action, romance, humor and creative writing merge together into an exciting read that paranormal fans are sure to appreciate! I really enjoyed it!

Coveted felt somewhat disjointed. Natalya is a werewolf with issues. I could empathize with Natalya and her issues but felt like I was missing parts of the story. We learn about things later than it seemed we should, the story didn't flow the way that seemed normal. Overall the book was okay, I didn't hate it, I didn't love it. I will give the next book a shot - it could suck me in and never let me go.

I thought this book was depressing. I'm not sure what is supposed to be entertaining about a person with so many issues. The whole situation around Nat was just sad.

Like another reviewer commented, the plot was all over the place and confusing. Plus, there are just too many minor characters introduced to keep track of which ones you need to remember and which ones are just filler.

I tried to read this book for a challenge, but I couldn't finish it. Even with the added incentive of a challenge.

Nat is a lone werewolf. She was cast out of her pack. Now she sells antiques and (hoards) collects all kinds of Christmas/holiday decorations. She also has OCD. Complications arise when Thorn, her ex, arrives back in town.
I did like that Nat's OCD wasn't played for laughs and it was part of who she was. I didn't like how she was treated by her former pack, nor did I like how hung up she still was on Thorn. He had so much power over her even when he wasn't around and I hated that. I did think the werewolf turf war could have been better explained (my main issue is it was glossed over why Nat was a central target). The world was interesting (it's not just werewolves, but all kinds of supernatural beings).
Nat was an okay character; I felt she was judgmental at time and could have been more supportive of her friends. I hated Thorn. To really like a book (and want to continue to read the series) I have to like the love interest too or at least read something redeeming. Pass on the next.

I borrowed this book from the library and oh my gosh! It was very good. All the many characters very much alive and interesting. I love this writer's story weaving and had to pre-order Kept, the next in this new series, which is out in November.

The main characters are Thorn Grantham, Son and next Alpha for the and South Tom's River pack, and Natalya Stravinsky, who is a rogue wolf having been kicked out of the pack by Thorn's father, the pack Alpha. They were lovers in college, but suddenly 5 years ago, Thorn took off with not a word as to why. Natalya who was slightly OCD, became more obsessive and on and off in therapy. The Long Island pack leader has openly declared that he is taking over the South Tom pack and Natalya, the weakest link, seems to be their main target. Why is beyond everyone's imagination except that as weakest link she is set for extermination by the rival pack and Farley Grantham, pack apha wants her to leave his territory. Thorn still love's Natalya but is forced to accept that he will be next Alpha and must marry Erica, to unite two packs to strenghten them both. There is so much potential and so many side stories to pursue. The book is told in first person by Natalya and is funny and interesting to read.

This is a very good first book and I can't for Kept to be released to learn more about Thorn, Natalya and all their family and friends.

Mixed feeling after reading Coveted. There were a few times in the beginning I was just going to ditch it for something else, but I forced myself to at least read the first 50 pages. While I didn't love the story, I'm glad I finished the book. It definitely had some great moments and Nat and her friends grew on me. However, I didn't care for Thorn or his way of treating Nat. I rather hope we see more of Nick in the next novel, Kept, instead. Overall, this was an okay read and the series shows potential. I'm going to start Kept next, which will determine if this is a series I'm going to follow or not.
