(Back Cover) Anna Connor knows what kind of man Jake Rollins is... He's the sexy cowboy kind who'll break your heart when he call you up to tell you he's married someone else. And she knows because that's exactly what Jake did to her 16 years ago, giving her no choice but to marry Jake's best friend. After all, her baby deserved a father, even if Jake was too irresponsible to fill the role.
Now Jake's back in Happy, Texas, demanding to know why Anna never told him just what he was leaving behind - their daughter. How can she explain that she hadn't meant to hurt him? That she'd done what she thought best? Or that even after all these years, (and even though she still loves him), she can't admit the truth. Because doing so would only hurt their daughter...

Anna Connor lost her heart to Jake Rollins when she was too young to know better. She thought he was a good man, an honorable man... not the kind of man that would call up and tell her he was married to somebody else. Not when she was pregnant with his child. She could hardly tell him about the baby when he apparently loved someone else.
Confused, and frightened, she had turned to Jake's best friend. And they had made a good marriage-- a good life. Until her husband died and Jake came back to town. Is there a second chance for first love?
Sure there is-- but I enjoyed this story immensely for a couple of reasons- because Anna loved her husband, her second choice, and would have been happy with him forever and because that revelation rocks Jake back on his heels. Good story-- if you like romances that are a littl bit complex, you'll probably like this one...
