The Crafty Teddy is the third installment of John J. Lamb's enjoyable Bear Collector's Mystery series. Fans of the first two will find more of the same here: teddy bear information, murder, and flirting between Brad and his wife Ash. This book takes place in Brad and Ash's hometown in the Shenandoah Valley, which means that my favorite quirky local Sergei plays a bigger role in the story than in the last book. Despite the teddy bear theme, this mystery series continues to be a little edgier (relatively speaking.... it is hardly edgy at all!) than most cozies because of the realism the author's law enforcement background brings to the crime investigation and the fact that Lamb is not afraid to use occasional mild (very mild) profanity or make (vague) sexual innuendos. Another fun read for cozy lovers.
Fast-paced book in the series. To me, this author's books are of the "can't put it down" variety. Interesting information about teddy bears in general. Highly recommend.
I started reading this series on a whim because I, too, am a teddy bear maker who has participated at teddy bear shows. What a pleasant surprise!! Well written, fast paced, and thoroughly entertaining. A laugh out loud, interesting mystery - fun for all. You'll enjoy this one!!
I absolutely love this series. It is great to have the switch up of a male voice narrating a cozy mystery and I wish I could see the bears they are describing!
I enjoyed this one - but I have to say - after reading the first two books, I was hoping that the teddies would play less of a pivotal role and more of an accent in the whole crime/mystery. There can only be so many teddy crimes, after all, without it being a very dangerous hobby.
