I appreciate the overall story that is told in this book. I love cats. I can relate to the strained relationship the author has with her mother. I can even relate to her OCD behaviors a good bit. However I felt a bit battered by the time I finished this book from the author's repetitive style. I was taken aback by her discovery regarding her relationship with her father, I really didn't see that coming at all, but was still so put off by the reiteration of her obsession with her cat that I can't say I enjoyed the twist.

This is a beautiful, heart-felt book; almost a mini-autobiography in that the author writes about her beloved pet coming into her life, then meeting her future husband, her relationship with her parents during her childhood and now as an adult, the illness and death of her father, how she was able to deal with that and how it caused her to re-examine how she viewed her relationship with her parents; and in the end, the death of her beloved pet. That part really made me cry. There were funny parts in the book where I burst out laughing, too. I felt the author touched on so many subjects that I am also dealing with. Even though the book is 237 pages long, I read it in one evening because I couldn't put it down. I just loved it.
