Another satisfying Irish village mystery from Pim. No blood or gore, and a glimpse into the social mores of post-WWII Ireland, with well-rounded characters and an easy reading style.
Fun read - interesting characters in a big house in the English countryside. Light and intelligent writing, great bedtime reading. Could have used better editing - amazing the number of typos - but really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading another by Sheila Pim.
I am greatly enjoying Sheila Pim's gardening-themed mysteries set in the Irish countryside - they all seem to be towards the end of World War II or just after. Clues all over the place, but I can't figure it all out which does not detract at all from the great characters, and Irish country atmosphere. This one has two zingers at the end! I sort of guessed at one, but only 85%!
I am loving them!
