I think the only character I liked in this book was the 10 year old girl. However this book had a very surprising and "edge of your seat" ending! I thought it odd to have a married cop fantasizing about a female priest and vise versa. Just strange. I think the author went a bit far trying to be unique in a series or something. I expected the series to be more about the lady priest since it is a DIVINE Mystery supposedly but I just didn't see it that way. I have book 2 and will see if I can get into these any better.
