Years ago I subscribed to several cross stitch mags.  Now I've no idea which are considered the better publications.

I would much appreciate your recommendations or suggestions.

Thanks for your time.

I used to subscribe too, but it has been a while since I did.   Seems like my two favorites were Just Cross Stitch and Cross Country Stitcher.

Just Cross Stitch and Cross Stitch and Needlework are the 2 main US magazines. The second will also have hardanger projects etc. To me it seems a little more...youthful/fresh maybe, but it is not entirely all cross stitch. I like both myself.

I also like Cross Stitch Collection, but it is a UK magazine, and not always easily located at Barnes and Noble or Joanns. They are also more expensive 11-12 ish a copy. They tend to have a lot more mini articles and if you need say a mini dinosaur chart or a pillow of dahilas they are the ones more likely to have it.

I like the mags from the UK and find them much more user friendly since I'm a novice.  They are more pricey, but at least you can see the charts without going blind.  Taught myself with them.

I am not currently subscribing to any cross-stitch magazines, but I think some of these that I've liked are still being published:

The Cross Stitcher (there is a US and a UK brand; I like both)

Stoney Creek is nice and I noticed that back issues go for high prices on eBay, so I will assume others also quite like it.

As someone else mentioned, there are some great magazines from the UK, such as Cross Stitch Gold, Mary Hickmott, and I just love Cross Stitch Card Shop. However, they are pricey to get, over here.

I have wanted to check out the magazines from Australia, which I heard has some nice ones. Once, again, I would expect these to be a bit pricey.

I tend to buy a single copy of any of the brands, where there is a topic that I especially want, so I will occasionally spend the extra money to buy a Mary Hickmott rather than several cheaper ones, if the patterns REALLY grab me.

Sampler and Antique Needlework has a variety of types of stitching beyond just cross-stitch. It's a nice magazine if you like the more antique patterns and want a magazine with more than cross-stitch.

If you just want something to enjoy looking at, each month, Just Cross Stitch is probably a good choice. It has a nice variety of things. If you like cross-stitch Christmas ornaments, they used to and probably still do an edition of the magazine once a year with a lot of those, plus a special Halloween issue. It's a nice all-around cross-stitch magazine, in my opinion, and gives you something in your monthly mail without breaking the bank.

One that I've recently discovered at my specialty cross-stitch shop is "Jill Oxton's Cross Stitch & Bead Weaving." I fell in love with every issue. To me, every issue is just beautiful. However, this is only partly cross-stitch, but I will admit that, while I know I won't do some of the other crafts in this magazine, I just love looking at them. Plus, I bought a single issue and done not a single one because I can't decide which beautiful thing to start with.

You could try at the library. They usually have a large selection of magazines.

Forgot about Stoney Creek, that was a nice one!  I'd like to see Jill Oxton's Cross Stitch & Bead Weaving, as I like to do beading too.

Just wanted to mention for anyone else who is looking for the UK magazines, you can subscribe to many of them digitally now for a lot less.  I have a couple freebies I got on my Kindle, but I prefer Zinio.com since you can print from their PC reader so you have a physical chart if you need it.
