From reading the other reviews, I feel like a jerk, but I did not like this book. At All. It was a quick read, but it was extremely predictable and truly far fetched. I am a single mother of two young boys and dying young and leaving them behind is my biggest fear. I am a single mom because my husband died at a young age from cancer. I have been a caretaker and I live with this story in my heart daily...and not one word of this book rang true to me.
On top of that, the writing was cliqued and the author tried too hard. Many parts were awkward. Further, religion played a large role in this book and had I known that, I probably would not have picked it up...I am not anti-religion or anti-God, I just don't like to have it foisted upon me when I don't expect it. So, thought I'd pass that information along.

This is a sensitively written first-person account of a young mother facing death & the conflicting decisions & emotions in what to do with her young daughter. I found the story complelling & the ending up-lifting. All of us who proclain ourselves Christians should be able to face death with the same courage as the main character. It's a story that will stay in your heart for a long time even as you know that this is a story that needs to be passed from woman to woman, friend to friend.

Want to read a book that is so predictable it isn't funny? Then read this one--everything on every page is predictable, nothing rings true, most of the characters are not likable, the only one I liked was Craig, I got about half way then skipped and skimmed because it was too predictable and the situation did not ring true for me.

Wow this book was so fantastic. A book that you can not put down. Shows how far a mother will go for her child. The book will have you thinking long after you finish it.

Make sure you have your tissues handy. If you only read a few books this year, make sure this is one of them

Wow...one of the best books I've read! If you are only able to read a couple of books this busy holiday season, make Crossing Oceans one of them. It is a beautifully written novel. Definitely a must!

This was an absolutely beautiful book. Your heart just breaks for Jenny and her whole family, but by the end of the book you find yourself sighing with contentment over God's divine Providence.

Kudos to Gina Holmes on her debut novel.
