Great read if you like court room dramas.
Lots of plot puzzles as attorney Ben Kincaid takes on the case of Leeman Hayes who has been accused of viciously murdering a young woman at a golf club. There's one major problem - Leeman is mentally handicapped but since the D.A. says he can tell right from wrong, he's capable of making a decision to kill. Ben doesn't think it's that easy and takes on the case free just to see justice done. There are several subplots that don't seem to fit into the overall story but Bernhardt does have them fitting masterfully. The main character, attorney Ben Kincaid is a charming character whose sense of humor lightens the subject matter and had me chuckling throughout the book. A very good read!
I could not put this book down until I finished it. Spellbinding.
I enjoyed this book very much. Story is about a lawyer who takes on "lost causes" and is latest is no exception. A ten yr. old murder case involving a mentally challenged black man. I will look for other books by this author.
