This book is SLOW. Even in the action scenes, the main characters sit down and have a discussion about the archaeology and what this most recent discovery means. Not really any character development either. I got over 3/4 of the way through the book before it started to get interesting.
This is just another "And then I punched the dirty relic thief in the nose" type work - and not even a very interesting one. So many of these, within this genre, can take your breath away...so sad that this one just lays there, and smells up the room.
A lot of this kind of books out there right now, but this one has more interest.
Mr. Gibbins has a way of telling a story...weaving fact and fiction together. It keeps the reader believing the story. At the end of the novel, in the editors notes, is where mr. Gibbins separates the truth from the fiction. Which I found very in lightning, to find how much reseach was done for his novel.Wouls I read another David Gibbins novel??? YES
If your into archeology and ancient mysteries you will enjoy this book. Excellent story and great characters!
