I loved this book. Hoag can put you on the edge of your seat and keep you there. Heat, is the word that comes to mind. Heat of the bayou, heat of the grusome murders, and HEAT from the sexual tensions between the characters. It was the first Hoag book I've read and I will read others in the future.

I loved this book because I could't guess who was the killer, and I am very good at guessing the killer early in the story.
Great writing,read,story!

This book was excellent. Up until the end you were going back and forth as to who the killer was.

Hoag is excellent as always. Intriging characters, great plot -- even the second time you read it!

Laurel Chandler, a lawyer returning home in disgrace, meets a local man, Jack Boudreaux, also a lawyer though disbarred, and falls in love. Most of the story is Laurel's healing from a mental breakdown and dealings with Jack while all along she is determined that the last thing she needs is a relationship. Her bad childhood and his draw them together like white on rice. When the local serial killer strikes close to home, things heat up and Laurel finally gets her feet under her and gets back in the game.
UNBELIEVABLE! I honestly couldn't put it down. I started it today and other than a dinner break, read it in one shot. What a fabulous story! This is the first Tami Hoag book I've read but it certainly will not be the last. The plot was convoluted and the murders where really in the background until they hit home and then wow in your face action and suspense.

Very typical of Tami Hoag's books (or at least all that I've read), but this definitely had an edge. I do love the Cajun men and hot sex scenes, but the gruesome crimes kept me reading. I couldn't put it down. Loved the character Laura Chandler, even though I had a hard time picturing her in a "sexy" light with the silly glasses. Still, one of my favorite Hoag books.

Oh my Gosh!!! I love this author, but this was one of the best books I've read yet!!! If u like murder & suspense, this is the best from beginning to end!!!
I picked this up and read it without realizing it was book 3 in a series. Usually that bothers me; not reading books in order but this book I couldn't tell. I wasn't confused, I followed the story and really enjoyed it. Very suspensful and romantic. This book had all the elements of creepy, small town antics and sadistic secrets. Tami Hoag is a very enjoyable writer.
I loved this book. It had the great suspense that you would expect from Tami Hoag and romance thrown in. A good balance of suspense and romance. I love the books setting in the Louisiana
Hoag is capable of writing fine thrillers, full of twists and turns and genuine suspense. This isn't one of them. After struggling through nearly half the book and finding nothing but cliché romance novel situations, with nary a bad guy in sight, I gave up.
In the rural parishes of Louisiana's French Triangle, young women are disappearing one by one, only to turn up on the banks of the bayou, strangled and cast aside where they are sure to be found. But there is one trophy the killer prizes above all others, one woman who must be silenced forever....
Attorney Laurel Chandler did not come back to Bayou Breaux to seek justice. That once-burning obsession had destroyed her credibility, her career, her marriage - and nearly her sanity. But when a ruthless predator strikes too close to home, she's lured into a perverse game from which there may be no escape. Once before, Laurel's cries against a monstrous evil went unanswered. Who will listen now? (from back cover)

One of Tami Hoag's best. Louisiana's French Triangle plus Louisiana's bayous plus a serial killer. What more could you ask for. An emotionally tortured heroine.
Another great book! I realized I'd read it before but it still kept me wondering.
One of my favorite writers!
Young women are disappearing in Louisiana and turning up dead on the bayou. Attorney Laurel Chandler is lured into a game "from which there may be no escape. Once before, Laurel's cries against a monstrous evil went unanswered. Who will listen now?"
One of my favorite Hoag books!
This thriller is about a young state prosecutor who returns to her family in Bayou country after a humiliating defeat in court - only to find that a killer is stalking the women of her home town and that first her promiscuous sister - and then she - become the prime targets.
If you like Tami Hoag, you will like this one.
Tami Hoag is excellent when she combines hot, Cajun romance with mystery. You won't want to put it down until you find out who the identity of the perpetrator.
Tami Hoag writes page turners in crime. This one is set in Louisiana's French Triangle, where young women are being strangled and cast aside on the banks of the bayou. Attorney Laurel Chandler is the prize target. Suspenseful.
This was surprisingly good. Though it definitely was a romance novel, the characters had a great deal of depth. They drew you in and made you care for them. Though much of the plot was predictable, there was enough interesting aspects of the characters for you to want to turn the page. Not the best I've read, but certainly far from the worst.
A MUST read!
I enjoyed this book; Tami Hoag is a wonderful author. As usual, the twists are good and surprising. If you like Tami Hoag, you will really enjoy this one.
A good read for mystery lovers.
Early Hoag- heavier on the romance than her latest books (in a good way)! Laurel Chandler returns home to Louisiana after losing her job and husband in Georgia. She is home to heal, but becomes embroiled in both a love affair with Jack, who has his own demons to fight, and a serial murder case. Hoag develops the characters well and draws the reader right in. Recommended
good read, suspenseful
Tami Hoag...you keep me on the edge of my seat sometimes. I've read some of her books in two days. I can't put them down.
I prefer her Minnesota settings vs Louisianna etc... but that is just my personal preferance.
I must say, she can really write up some sexy, mysterious, intriguing, male hero characters in her books. I've fallen in love more than once!

This is Tami Hoag at her best! Very enjoyable.
After a breakdown, Laurel Chandler returns to her hometown to escape her problems. She finds herself pursued by bestselling horror writer Jack Boudreaux. Even as Laurel falls for Jack's Cajun charm, a killer is terrorizing her hometown and leaving his trophies for Laurel.
One of the best romantic suspense books I've ever read! It has a great mystery and incredible sexual tension. I couldn't put it down. My rating: 5 Stars.

A good thriller and an easy way to escape your own world for a bit
I do love those Louisiana men...
Almost anything Hoag writes is good. This book is no exception
This is a great, long, read. Keeps you interested until the very end.
Kept me guessing for a while who the culprit was, but I started to guess half way through and I was right! Still a great read!
Hard to put this book down!

Women are disappearing one by one in Louisiana's French Triangle. Now attorney Laurel Chandler is lured back home-will she be the predator's next victom.
mystery and suspense
A real page-turner.
A typical TAMI HOAG!!!! Wonderful, scary, and I couldn't put it down.
Louisiana mystery
It's Tami Hoag...HOWEVER, Jacks moods gave me whiplash!!!! other then that, I really loved it
Another of her overdone stories
Again, I've said before this needs to be cut down by at least 200 pages, just too much boring nonsense and not enough of a good thriller

Modern Master of Suspense ... Hoag delivers once again
In the rural parishes of Louisiana's French Triangle' young women are disappearing one by one, only to turn up on the banks of the bayou, strangled and cast aside where they are sure to be found. But there is one trophy the killer prizes above all others, one woman who must be silenced forever...
great story-plenty of intrigue and romance-good mystery and thrilling.
My second book by Tami Hoag. I Loved it! Really enjoyed the French Cajun she adds to the story. And I didn't know who the killer was till she told me!!! It could have been several people! I was refreshing to be kept guessing till the end !!!
Great murder thriller! Loved it!
In the rural parrishes of Louisana's French triangle, young women are disappering one by one. They turn up on the banks of the bayou, strangled and casted aside where they were sure to be found. Attorney Laurel Chandler has come back to bayou Breux to seek justice. She lured into a perverse game of which there will be no excape.
This thriller reads a little too much like a romance novel for my taste.
I love the Tami Hoag mysteries. Lots of Louisiana flavor!
great thriller!
book has been read many times but is in good condition

Murder and mayhem--fun read!
