Very funny series
First book I have read from Tamar Myers, Really enjoyed it,, I want to read the whole series now. I would grab this one if I were you.

Colonel George Custard thinks Magdalena's hometown of Hernia, Pennsylvania, is perfect for his new mega five-star hotel. But some fear it will destroy the town's quaint and quiet ambience. Several vocal citizens, including Magdalena, protest the project. Soon after, the colonel is found shot to death at the PennDutch Inn. No one minded telling him off...but killing him off is a different story. Now Magdalena must find out who caused Custard's last stand.....and save her beloved town.

A big loudmouth comes into Mag's Penn Dutch Inn with plans to build a huge hotel in Hernia. Many people fear this will ruin the small town atmosphere, while Mags thinks it will interfere with her business. Needless to say, a murder occurs and Mags is right in the middle of things. Another funny installment in the series and one I really enjoyed. This book includes some wonderful custard recipes, which sound delicious.

The main character is not your average heroine. With size 11 feet and a face that's been mistaken for Big Foot, she's endearing. There is the occasional turn of phrase that delights (I get enough exercise just jumping to conclusions). Magdalena tries to keep a good Christian heart while comparing her neighbors to unflattering things like an owl or a praying mantis. She manages to solve the mystery while calling everyone 'dear' and promising to repent later. Quite the quirky cast of characters. I liked it.

Tamar Myers is a very good writer. As with all of her books, the characters are interesting and the story is well told. The recipes are just an added bonus.

This series starring Magdalena Yoder is funny and just plain fun. A great "cozy" mystery series!

George C. booked a room at Magdalena's Bed & Breakfast in Hernia, PA, only it isn't the George C Magdalena is expecting. Matters go from bad to worse in the usual Mennonite/Amish Pennsylvania Dutch mystery novel. Tamar Myers is one of my favorite authors & she delivers once again. Too funny!
