This book is as good as the first in the series, and I really loved that one. Brenna and her friends are back with another mystery to solve. This time the murder threatens to de-rail the wedding plans of a young couple. Again, didn't know who did it until the end, and certainly not the why. This is a great series and I recommend it for a good, clean, quick cozy read.

In this second Decoupage Mystery book Brenna once again finds herself in the middle of a murder.
When Bride-to be Tara doesn't show up to OK her wedding favors, Brenna decides to go to her home and get her. She knows that the bachelorette party was the night before and figures Tara overslept. What Brenna finds however is a nightmare. Tara is fast asleep in bed, alongside Clue, her fiance Jake's best friend. Even worse, Clue is dead and Tara is holding the murder weapon.
Tara can't remember what happened the night before, but Brenna knows in her heart that she couldn't have done this awful thing. So when Tara is arrested for the murder, Brenna sets out to find out who really did it.
There are a lot of suspects, and as in the first book, I was completely surprised by who the murderer turned out to be. This book kept me interested until the last word.
I love Lucy Lawrence's books. Of course, as with any cozy, you have to read them "with a grain of salt". But that is the beauty of a cozy. They are not supposed to be "real life"...just easy reading, with the knowledge that it is not supposed to be "real".

This is the 2nd book of 3 mysteries that take place in Morse Point. The first book takes place in the spring, this one in the summer and the next book in the fall. The MC, Brenna left Boston to work with her friend Tenley in her Decoupage Vintage Papers store. I love all the characters in the town, who give it a home town feeling. Everyone feels the love of a young couple, Jake and Tara. Jake is the home town boy while Tara is a transplant from Boston. Gossip ensues when Jake's best friend, Clue is found murdered lying next to his fiance, Tara who is caught with the weapon. While she has no idea as to how it happened, Brenna believes her and sets out to prove the police wrong. The reveal of the murderer at the end of the book took me totally by surprise. I'm looking forward to the next and final book in the series.
I jumped into this series at #2. Although at moments I had the understandable feeling of having walked in partway through a conversation, by the end of the book I felt I had enough information that I was caught up with the series.
Unfortunately I loved the characters and disliked the sleuthing. If I hated both I could walk away from the series. Now I'll annoy myself with another one.
Semi-Spoiler: The bride-to-be is found in bed the morning after her batchelorette party, laying next to a dead body and clutching the murder weapon on page 42. So Brenna goes searching for clues, by looking up all the ex-girlfriends of the victim. It wasn't until page 140 that it occurs to her to revisit the night before. she never talks to any of the party-goers or the hired driver to find out who/how the victim ended up at home with the suspect. Really? That wasn't the first question?? No...better to go dig up all the old jilted girlfriends. Whatever. Hopefully the next "mystery" will be as well put together as the characters, because I'd love to get to know them better.
