This author writes the Andy Carpenter series which are very good BUT he has expanded with this one and it is so riveting and keeps you on the edge that you won't be able to put it down long enough to take a potty break! very well written and suspense on every page until the end!

I couldn't put it down! Should come with a warning that you better not have anything else to do for a day so you can read it in one sitting. Highly recommend. Love his Andy Carpenter series but this one is just as good as a stand alone.

This book was not up to the standards of David Rosenfelt I've come to expect with his Andy Carpenter series. It felt like he got tired of trying to finish this one and hurried up an ending that resulted in something less than satisfactory. For example, you never knew the motive for the bad guy's killing spree -- except money, and that was kind of weak.

This was an exciting thriller - and with a main character, that other than a love of sports, was not at all reminiscent of Andy Carpenter. It was also devoid of dogs, which was more surprising than all of the twists of the largely unpredictable plot. And the plot was very well constructed! The characters were all likable and it was certainly a fast read. In fact, I read it in one sitting. Though the Carpenter series is more amusing, I think that the level of excitement in this book was much higher than some of his others. The ending, however, was wrapped up a little to abruptly, but other than that, this was a terrific thriller!

A fan of Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter, I expected to love this book which was described as "an intense thrill ride that will have readers racing through the pages right up to the end". I was racing through the pages all right, but that was because the writing was so poor, I skipped whole chapters trying to find portions of the book that would hold my interest. Unfortunately, that never happened. The writing was contrived, stilted, and forced, a painful distraction from a weak plot. I'm glad I got this one from the library. I'm returning it today with a resounding two thumbs down!

David Rosenfelt's books are always good mysteries. Although I like his stand-alones, I do like the Andy Carpenter series better.

I LOVED this book. I am a big fan of David Rosenfelt and I read all of his previous Andy Carpenter books. This book is a stand alone, and does not feature Andy. The book is a quick read. Read the inside cover for a synopsis of the plot. One thing I like about the style of Rosenfelt, is the fact that the book is not full of excessive violence or graphic sex scenes. the characters are just ordinary everyday people that just add to the story and detract or distract from the story line.
There is just a hint of romance--just a hint, not page after page of bedroom scenes. There are a lot of twists and turns, and when you think you have it figured out, think again. The ending sure did surprise me. I wonder if he is going to turn this into another series?
My copy was from my local library, so I can't help anyone who has this book on their WL. Be patient, it is worth the wait. It would be a perfect book for a plane.
