okay...I have issues with this book. The mythology is interesting (biblical plus vampires and legions of hell spawn) The missions and the different casts of vamps, spiritualists, etc are well drawn. I came into this series by reading this book first, which maybe I shouldn't have. The story isn't difficualt to follow, but many of the histories and details are lost if you don't already know them. But, the writing style.OH NO!!!
These characters are from the ghetto. And you can tell.I don't have a clue what they are saying half the time.I am severely dissapointed the author felt she needed to write in this way to get an audience.Well, I won't be reading any more of her books. It hurts my head.I don't know when something is supposed to be funny, or scary. Are there any nuances in ghetto speak? This is more over the edge than ebonics.Soem Mexican littered in there and a wholke lotta of "sistah's and brothers" I just don't understand.
While this premise has promise, unless you speak like an illiterate arse, you won't understand this book, and I wouldn't suggest you try.
