This was the first novel I've read by a queen of the romance genre, and I enjoyed the contemporary marriage-of-convenience story. (I'm not usually a fan of this trope.)
Main characters Tess and Ian have each experienced heartache and separately escaped to Runaway Mountain to regroup. Unexpected tragedy brings them together in sweet, sassy, and sexy ways! Ian is a very successful street artist and Tess is a labor and delivery nurse; both professions bring interesting aspects to the plot. Tess also finds herself advocating for better sex education for the community's teens which isn't positively received by everyone. This was a fun diversion from my usual genres.
TW: child abuse, maternal death after childbirth
