First of all, I am a huge fan of their Sazi series, but not the Thrall. But I still gave them a look just because their first series was so good - to varying degrees of course. So I got this book and read it out of order. Boy am I glad I did! Even at book 6, there's enough background info to allow me to understand at least part of the interpersonal dynamics and enjoy the Formula One race around greater Los Angeles and its hinterlands. It's engaging enough for me to track down the others in this series and catch up to the "present".
I chose the "Formula 1" precisely because the story starts a bit of revving, then proceeds to zoom its way around, through and beyond the immediate LA area. Somehow, the plot ties together office space hunting, bloodly family fueds, sorcerors of both good and evil bent, the FBI, a secret black ops company, the Vatican, UCLA, the Mafia, and family counseling sessions. And I didn't even include the various magical or mythical races that always populate their universes.
From the sound of the other plots in this series, I don't think I gave away any real spoilers. But if I did, just be comforted fact that these were just the elements that make up a fast moving story.

PS. I thought they built a solar plant out next to the California-Nevada border!?!?!??!?

Much better than the last book. Last published book in the series, I am really not sure if I would read more if/when additional books come out. My big issue is Celia. While she is strong, kick-ass, and smart, she allows some of the people in her life (whether blood relatives or not) to treat her like a doormat. She is, mostly, the same person she was in book 1. I would like the know what the "end" game is.
That being said, these are easy books to read (even if she is still with Bruno).
