The Nineteenth Century Franco-Prussian War interrupts Sylvie's ballet education with the Paris Opera Ballet and her quest to become a prima ballerina and support herself and her widowed mother. The artist Degas is a minor character, and some of the politics of the war and of the Paris Commune enter the story. A good (but not outstanding) young adult historical novel.
