Excellent read. I enjoyed every page and every sentence. Truly a read for the romantic-interest, but with more of a plot and twist along with it. Beautifully written, done with passion, adventure unlike ever before, and excitement.

Lucien will be familiar to readers of the Fallen Angel series as the group's mysterious and aloof spymaster. While investigating the Hellfire Club he repeatedly runs into an elusive woman who appears in a variety of guises and to whom he is immediately attracted. Unlike many heros in romance novels, he is not a rake which makes his attraction to the mystery woman even more compelling. Lucien eventually discovers that the woman is "Kit" Travers and unravels her story - she is searching for her lost twin. The adventure that follows is very imaginative and unique, and the romance is particularly poignant.

Ms. Putney seems to have done her research; at first I thought the premise of the book to be unbelievable in the extreme - but it seems that there was indeed a similar club in that time period! Well, there's something that I certainly didn't learn in school!

The book is extremely well-written, the premise is original, the characters complex - everything I look for in a good book. If I found it a little too long - well, that's only because of my time crunch (I wanted to get to the end, already!) but that's hardly something to detract from a book when it's this well written. It seems to me that Ms. Putney is one of those writers where you feel as if every word she put down on paper was meant to be there - that, combined with a daring and original story makes her one of the best.

You can't help feeling for Kit, and, although another reviewer found it odd that she would go to such great lengths to help her sister, I don't find it odd, but rather touching - and rare. I also did not find the "twin thing" unbelievable as other reviewers did - these things really do happen in real life (both that she "found" another twin, and that she could "feel" what her twin is feeling - at least to some degree).

In short, if what you are looking for is good writing, an original and daring plot, with a touch of the dark side thrown in - this is the book for you.

This was a really great read about a daring, unconventional girl searching for her identicle twin sister. She is definitely ahead of her time! She meets up with Lucien Fairchild who has a tragic past that has driven him to use his talents to protect his country. When these two meet, it gets really interesting!

I liked the hero, Lucien Fairchild, an earl and spy master who is afraid of loving too much and loosing as he lost his family when he was a child. Yet he still seeks emotional connection with a woman. The heroine, Kit, daughter of an impoverished earl and twin, is fairly smart and complex character. Their chemistry sizzles. The plot itself is rather out there, and 3/4 into the story it goes a little too much into science fiction rather than romance, but this is still a fun, quick read.

Lord Strathmore's the tragic hero of this romance. He's a spy for England who winds up teaming up with Kit Travers, an accomplished female spy who is quickly found out by him. Historical Romance

When I start a series, I get hooked. I always want to know how the characters fare as time passes. This one is about Lucien/Lucifer who meets up with Kit (Katherine Travers). There is ample opportunity to skip through a lot of page filler. The rouse drags on way too many times; as does they declaration of marriage from Lucien to Kit. Of course, there are a lot of surprises that make the story more interesting. Hang in there; it is worth the ending. Recommend. If you have all of the book, you can read them as a saga.

With his unearthly beauty and diabolicial cleverness, Lucien Fairchild, ninth Earl of Strathmore, has more than earned the nickname Lucifer. A tragic past has driven him to use his formidable talents to protect his country from secret enemies, and it is a job he does superlatively well...until he meets a mysterious woman whose skill at deception equals his own. By turns glamorous and subdued, reckless yet vulnerable, his enchanting adversary baffles his mind even as she captures his heart.

A perilous mission has forced Kit Travers into a deadly game of ever changing identities and needful lies, and a single misstep might cost her her life. But Lucien easily sees through her disguises. Unwilling to trust, yet unable to part, they join forces to search the dangerous underworld of London society - and discover tha teven two master deceivers cannot escape from passion's sensual web...or from an impossible love more precious than life itself.
