Didn't care for it. Didn't believe the hero could/would detox and quit drinking & whoring. I liked the first three books in this series, but this one ... no. It seemed flat & uninvolving, as well as not credible to me.

I put this down several times - actually made the sin of skipping to the back to see if it was worth it. But- it did pick up and went back and reread.

This is a good solid kind of HR book, it want along at a ok pace, nothing overly dramatic about the story and the characters. The story had potential to really go somewhere but it was flat in a lot of places. I did really enjoy the first three in the series, guess squeaking out a fourth was a bit much.

Throughout this series Castleford and Daphne have been two of my favorite characters, so I was anticipating their romance. While it was a decent romance novel, overall I was disappointed. My favorite parts of the book was the interactions between the leading men in the series. It was great seeing Summerhays, Hawkeswell, Albrighton again and their reactions to Castleford pursuing their wives' friend were comical. I just didn't believe that the main characters really loved each other. So much time is spent on Castleford's attempts to seduce Daphne, that the relationship isn't really developed.
