Still a great story but I'll be taking a break before I finish the series. I was left disappointed by the end of this book, not with the story but with a specific action. I don't want to ruin this so I won't mention a name but one character did something that I would not believe the person capable of. I feel it was an attempt to add conflict between two people and not true to the character that was created.

Great book, most sets that have more then two books to it kind of get redundent well this set dose not. It just gets better and better.

I'm going to review the first four books of this series as a "set" since they contain a world story arc that carries through them and most readers will prefer to have all four on hand before starting the series. This is the fourth book in the Riley Jenson Guardian series, which are paranormal romances set in Melbourne, Australia. Arthur does an excellent job of balancing the paranormal and the romance elements of the story and, while the moon cycle sexual responses of the werewolves echo a bit of LKH's "ardeur", Arthur pulls it off much more smoothly. The paranormal elements are well thought out with a few nice twists to standard mythos. Characters are well drawn, though a bit unbelievably perfect at times. Each book does have a standalone plot with a satisfying conclusion, but as I mentioned, there is a "world arc" that carries through all four books.

I really enjoyed this series, and can't wait for it to continue. The whole half vamp half were for the herione is pretty good. I will definately be looking for more by Keri Arthur.

Better than book 3, which was almost the end of the series for me. Not really any progress with Quinn in this book, but some revelations about him and his background. I thought the story in this book - the mystery part - was interesting and much more memorable than book 3.
I admit that I'm still a bit queasy about the notion that her "job" as a guardian is to have sex with bad guys. It's a device to allow a lot of sex with virtual strangers to be "okay" even though she's supposed to be in semi-committed relationships with Quinn and Kellan. But having sex for work, isn't that, you know, prostitution? That said, you want to read Riley Jensen novels, you accept that part of the story. I do feel more interested in the series again, and plan to keep reading, so I'm glad that I didn't let book 3 end it for me.

An ancient dark god of death and darkness is summoned. Riley has yet to fully accepted her job as a guardian (killing on command, using sex as a means of getting information) while trying to hold on to that piece of herself that makes her unique. To save just one, and cause the death of many has her perplexed. Her relationship with Quinn has reached a standstill. I cant wait to see what develops between her and Kellen (the wolf) now that he has her full attention, at least, at the end of this novel.
I enjoy the plot line in each of the Riley Jenson novels but the first couple of books in the series were my favorite. Keri Arthur is a great writer and I like how she keeps trying to develop the characters. It seems to me that the indecision on about Riley wanting to not fully embrace her role as a Guardian may cost her someone she loves.

I cannot believe she wrote and published 4 books in such a short time! Riley Jenson and her twin are superb as guardians and as heroes. A mixture of werewolves, vampires, and intrigue in the occult. I could NOT put this book down and this is the first of Ms. Arthur's I've read. I can't wait to get the rest! Highly recommend.

This is an action-packed book as were the previous by Keri Arthur. While the books are probably more exciting when read in order, you can really pick up any book and be able to jump right into the story. A really terrific read. I usually read them in one day! Cannot put them down!

I gave this book 3.5 stars, which is typically how I rate Keri Arthur's books--though some have definately been better then others. This is the fourth book in a series about Riley, a vampire/werewolf who hunts supernatural bad guys for a living. The series has it's ups and downs quality wise--this book was one of the ups in my opinion.
Riley and her twin brother Rhoan are hunting a murderer who has been butchering women. Tracking leads, Riley stumbles upon Jin--a bartender who seems human but is something more. Riley quickly learns that not only is Jin a rough bedroom partner, he is also at the center of a magical organization who thrive on sexual pain as an energy source. As Riley attempt to bring down the bad guys, she continues to be pursued by her two leading men--Quinn and Kellen.
I liked the overall premise of this book. There are some plot holes and unanswered questions, so it's not the most cleaning told story in the world. Also it's slow in the middle. But in the end the story leaves a lot of room for Riley to develope.

#4 and they just get better and better. Riley has quite the life. Should she choose Kellan or Quinn? She has to battle Gautier and something even more evil this time. Can't wait for the next one.
I was expecting sci-fi fantasy when i bought this series, the truth is this is sci-fi romance. If that is what you are looking for then you will be most pleased!

Great book, very supenseful.
I too am going to review these first four books together.
Although I admit this series is well-written, and I have in fact read them...I cannot help but wonder why. Pretty much because they are sitting here and I want to swap them out. But I'm tempted to quit reading and just send them away, because they are so dark. I don't get books where the emphasis is on how ugly you can make it. The sex is ugly. The story is ugly. The people are for the most part ugly, with only occasional redemptions. And every book leaves me thinking, why did I put up with all that (insert more appropriate word here)ick?!
This is NOT a fantasy...nor a normal paranormal. This is a paranormal, horror, suspense, and dark erotica. Not as detailed as a true erotica perhaps, but plenty of bloody whipping gashes while forcibly penetrated from behind and mind controlled orgasm...until the woman literally dies with a smile on her face. Not really what I enjoy reading.
I gave the book 3.5 stars simply because I respect and appreciate authors that can actually write! I'd probably give it an B+ if I was grading it (quite a few cliches and lots of repetition). But I sure didn't like it!
