Stephen King discusses horror movies and literature from 1950-1980. A look inside the mind of the icon. It's an interesting, if somewhat chaotic, look at the literature of the time period. With plenty of anecdotes from King about how he got into the field and what brought him there. A good read with a fine reference guide to films and books from the period.

I didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did. I don't usually get into Non-Fiction books but Stephen King has a great way of drawing you in. I especially enjoyed the section on Tv and Horror movies. Surprisingly the section on Horror novels was a bit dry to me. Even though I hadn't seen a lot of the movies he mentioned (this book was written before I was even born) he's good at describing the necessary scenes. For some reason, to me, he didn't do as great a job as drawing me into the Horror novel section. King's sense of humor really comes through in this book too.

Book developed from a class on writing that King taught. His thoughts and ideas on what horror is, listing lots of other resources.
King talks about the horror stories, books, movies, etc. that he likes and that have influenced his writing. Very good, make me laugh out loud.
Warning - not a story book by S King but a 'how-to' on how to write horror stories etc . . . by S. King. As much as I love to read King, this is not the one to read. If you want to write horror stories or any thing suspensful, then this book might help you out with lessons learned and what not to do (etc). If you're looking for a horror story then this is not it.
This is a great collection of essays for anyone who wants to see into the workings of King's mind or who is contemplating writing horror storied of their own.
This book, first published in 1980, is based on a college writing course that Stephen King gave. It's an interesting read, not limited to "how to write" -- it's a lot about him, how his books were then done, what his influences were, etc. Of interest to King fans, horror fans and aspiring authors.
