This 80th birthday reprint contains six strange tales taken from "The Apple Tree" and "Don't Look Now." included in this book are " Don't Look Now," The Apple Tree," "The Blue Lenses," The Birds," "The Alibi," and "Not After Midnight." All center closely around one central character and lead to a bizarre culmination. Well, except for "The Birds" in which she leaves the reader dangling. This one, incidentally, was the basis for the Hitchcock film. All involve a simple plot, although it sometimes seems that she protracts it to the extreme. At any rate the endings are worth the effort.
