This next installment of the Dark Series was sooo much better than the previous book. As in all the previous books, this is the story of a Carpathian male (Julian) who has nearly lost the will to continue living meeting up with his "lifemate" (Desari) and trying to convince her that she belongs with him. A lifemate gives color, emotions, feelings and meaning back to his world. In this book, the heroine actually had some backbone and power to stand up to the powerful Carpathian. Julian learns that the ancient women of his race have power - just a different kind of power than the men. I also really liked the interaction between Desari's brother and Julian. More is revealed about the "Carpathian" race in this book as well.

If you havent figured out by now i enjoy all of christine feehans books. Her tales with the carpathians have kept my on the edge of my seat as I envision a world where the heroes and villians are the same yet a small detail will make the carpathian male either lovable or pure evil. She weaves her tales in such a way that you must know what happens next. And she doesn't drop a person from a book and never leaves you wondering if they live or die. I hope she keeps this series going for a long time. Please read any of the series and you will get hooked like me.

The fifth in the ongoing original saga of the Carpathians, this one introduces us to four new characters as well as the twin, Julian, of the 'hero' in Dark Gold. It also introduces Desari (Dara) a Carpathian Female who is equal in power to Julian, which makes for an interesting situation as none of the Carpathian males (except those in Desari's 'family unit') are used to dealing with Carpathian women who are the equal of their power. It also brings a unique twist into the mix as the two carpathian females introduced to us, each have a unique power that the Carpathian males were unaware that Carpathian women of power have.

Nice, but you still want more. This one was good but I have read better of her's. There are too many open ends in this one for my taste. But still a good read. Too much mushy romance/sex and not enough of the charictures and really no plot whatsoever.
Oh and not all covers look like the one with the panther on it, the one I recieved has the tacky woman hanging off the man cover. lol Up until I saw the tacky cover I was able to get away with telling everyone they are not romance novels. You just can't do that with a tacky stary eyed woman hanging on to his pants leg,on the floor, staring up at him like he is a god of somekind, while the big hunky guy stands there looking all fabioish. lol Just not what you want to see on the cover of a vampire type of novel.

This book made me want to read more of this series.
Not bad but they are starting to run together. Not enough difference from one book to the next.
Christine Feehan is amazing and so is this book. Love the story and the way it flowed! Keep them coming CF!
Christine Feehan's "Dark" Series have become my new favorite books to read!

I felt, had a deeper depth to it than the last four. It really showed how hard it was for Carpathian males to live together, and showed a deep interaction between the "family unit" of Desari (including a sweet sister relationship between Desari and Syndil, the other female Carpathian). All of the characters were delightfully interesting, and the situation between Julian and the other male Carpathians, especially between Darius and Julian, was quite amusing and real.
the entire series kept you glued to the book, it was very difficult to put down.
Good book, really enjoyed it.
The story of julian and Desari and the problems encountered living as humans and in the public eye. Julian is sent to warn Desari that the band of human vampire hunters are going to attack her. This willbe his last assignment before seeking the dawn. To his surprise, Julian discovers his lifemate and a band of lost Carpathians!

I enjoyed the story about Julian's brother Aidan more than this one,and that's saying a lot because I was not a big fan of that story either. One thing that I did love is that this book introduces us to four new Carpathians and I'm eager to read their stories. I really liked the first three of the series I just hope that they get better.
I loved this book, I love all Christine Feehan's books. What an amazing author.
Just noting that this is a reissue from the Carpathian series.
This book was every bit as good as the others in the series. The author keeps up a good pace.

As usual, Feehan's books are very hard to put down. A most excellent read!
This was in the same vein as the others...Feehan weaves a lovely tale as always..and all the books intertwine...good characters..the book flows well
Another great addition to the Carpathian series, this one is about Julian Savage and his finding his mate, who also happens to be a Carpathian that has gone unknown to others for centuries. A little different twist than some of her others in this series...this is the 5th in the Lovespell series, follows: Dark Magic, Dark Gold, Dark Desire and Dark Prince, copywright November 2000.
book 3 in the carpathian series. romantic, vampire series. entertaining, fast read.
This is the 5th of the Dark Series and is Julian Savage's story
Feehan spins magic when writing her Carpathian series. Once you read one of the books, I bet you'll have to go out and get the rest.

Good Story!
Loved the story and the characters...
They were masters of the darkness, searching through eternity for a mistress of the light...
Julian Savage was golden. Powerful. But tormented. For the brooding hunter walked alone, always alone, far from his Carpathian kind, alien to even his twin. Like his naem, his existence was savage. Until he met the woman he was sworn to protect...
When Julian heard Desari sing, rainbows swamped his starving senses. Emotions bombarded his hardened heart. And a dark hunger to possess her flooded his loins, blinding him to the danger stalking him. And even as Desari enflamed hi, she dared to defy him-with mysterious, unparalleled feminine powers. Was Desari more than his perfect mate? Julian had met his match in this woman, but would she drive him to madness...or save his soul?

Oooh those Carpathian Men!! This is the tale of Julian Savage and Desari, who instead of being a mortal woman, is also Carpathian. I enjoyed every word!

Julian has searched forever for his lifemate. He has always walked alone. Alien even to his own twin. The darkness inside him that he has kept secret. He is swamped with emotions, hunger, and color once he hears Desair sings. Rainbows swamp his starving senses. Julian has not only met his mate, but his match as well.

Excellent book!
Wonderful story. Romance in a mysterious and haunting way. Must Read.
A female more powerful than the male claiming her? Bit of a twist for CF's stories and wonderfully written. Desari & Julian are a great match. Just when you think that CF is into women being submissive to men, they show some iron in their spine and really take on an equal role with the chauvinist in their life. Great to read such equal partnerships where each has their strengths and weaknesses.
ok, i am a sucker when it comes to the carpathain males. those guys have it rough tring to find their mates. if not, they want to end it all for they can not longer take their meaninless life like it is with out the mate to save their soul. loved it
Great fifth book in the Carpathian series. They just keep getting better.
Another great Carpathian story. This is the story of Julian & Desari. I love all of this series.
Much more of a plot than some of the others.
5th book in the Dark series.
Excellent series!
The cover is the first one with the male and female on the front instead of the black panther.
Love Christine, love the Carpathians. I Don't have enough good to say about them. Have never read one of the series that I didn't like.
