I simply loved this book. It is a wonderful addition to the Dark series and I think that Christine Feehan keeps getting better with each book she writes in the series. Gabriel was a very strong Carpathian male, but so sweet and tender with Francesca and he had many soft spots that made him endearing. Francesca was a very untypical Carpathian female and had discovered many wonders and accomplished much in her medical research and study over the years. She is no wilting violet, but she doesn't defy Gabriel over every little thing either, which was a refreshing change. The characters were great, the love scenes were hot and Gabriel and Francesca are simply perfect for each other! If you haven't read any of the Dark Series you are seriously missing out and, if you have, this is definitely a book that you will want to own - it's a keeper!

They were masters of the darkness, searching through eternity for a mistress of the light...GABRIEL...He woke deep within the ground, and the first sensation he felt was hunger. An overwhelming hunger for blood that demanded satisfaction. But as he hunted the dark streets of Paris for prey, a voice called to him, soothing, calming, giving him the strength to control his craving...Francesca Del Ponce was a healer, a woman who radiated goodness as powerfully as the sun did light. But surely his obsession with her would turn him as his twin brother had turned, leaving the world with two monsters instead of one...Though he knew she would be like hot silk in his arm, though he knew the taste of her would be addictive, he feared for her life and his soul if he took her. Then with one mind-shattering vow she gave herself-"I offer freely, without reservation, I offer my life for yours as is my right"-and with a firestorm of long-forgotten feelings he glimpsed salvation.

This is now my favorite Carpathian story. The ultimate in suspense, love, heartache and betrayal... this is a love story between a man and a woman and between two brothers that spans all time. Honor, commitment, and sacrifice. I laughed, cried, and felt the pain as well as the intense love of these extremely well developed characters. Could not put it down!

Good fast read. A little repetitive but not so much that it's not worth reading.

Loved it!! The book has a great story with a bit of a twist that I loved and there were subtle hints so if you pay attention you can figure it out. The human element was added a bit differently but I loved it all the same! It does get a bit slow at the begining in my opinion and I wanted to skip to find out important things because my attention wasn't held but other than that its wonderful!

If there's something that Christine Feehan can do to improve the Dark series, I'm not sure I could figure out how. I loved this book the first time I read it, and have loved it each time I go back and re-read it. This copy is a replacement, I'm slowly re-stocking my shelf to make sure I have ALL the Carpathian series!
Alpha males and strong willed women....oh yea..just makes me wish for alpha males in real life!
