Werewolf Romance Book #1 in series

You know, when I started this I wasn't expecting it to grab me because I've been so hard to please as of late. But once I started it I found it infectious and very difficult to put down. A curse has befallen the "Wulf" men (wulf, nudge, nudge, get it? none too subtle is this author). A spurned witch apparently hexed them and now Armond and his two sexy brother's fear falling in love and falling victim to the curse that claimed both of their parents. Fortunately, for Armond Wulf, fate has other plans in store for him.

Lady Rosalind is being forced into marrying some old, nasty lecherous man by her nasty, lecherous step-brother (or is he the half-brother? I can't remember) who has gambled away her fortune and owes the old coot lots of dough. Anyway, in order to thwart his plans, she decides it would be a great idea to scandalize herself by sleeping with a naughty, most unsuitable man. A man accused of murdering women. A man who harbors dark, possibly deadly secrets . . . A man who is, Armond, of course!

This was a dark, sexy book and if the heroine was a tad too naive for my liking I can forgive it because the rest of the book grabbed me and Armond was a terrific hero. I'm looking forward to book #2.

Ronda Thompson has always been a master at the paranormal, but she's taken it to a new level with her new "The Wild Wulfs of London" series. Beginning with THE DARK ONE, we're immersed into a paranormal regency world where nothing is what it seems, and where the choices you make might not have the outcome that you had proposed.

For Lady Rosalind Rutherford, things have gone from bad to worse. Her stepbrother, Franklin Chapman, has incurred large gambling debts that he cannot pay off. He's unable to sell the estate he's been living in, since it was a gift to his late mother from her late husband, the Duke of Montrose. Even if he'd been able to find a way to get around the fact that the estate wasn't his own, now that his stepsister Rosalind has come to live in the home, there's no discernible way to erase his debt. So Franklin, in typical evil-rogue style, decides to marry his dear stepsister off to the highest bidder, and use the acquired funds to clear his gambling debts.

The Chapman estate sits next to that of the Wulf's, a family of brothers cursed by an ancient witch many years ago. Love was their downfall, and now, whenever there's a full moon, the Wulf's turn into something much more dangerous than mere men. But when Lord Armond Wulf is introduced to Lady Rosalind at the first ball of the season, he's immediately smitten-or, more accurately, immediately filled with lust for the raven-haired beauty. Armond, however, knows that he's doomed to live a life of solitude, a life without the warmth and love of a woman. A woman caused their family's downfall, and he's determined to now allow the same to happen to him.

However, Lady Rosalind has other ideas. She has no plans to sit idly by while her stepbrother sells her off like cattle, so she sets out to do the one thing that might foil his plan-ruin her reputation so far beyond repair that no one will want to marry her. And she's found the perfect way towards this sinful fall from grace-Armond Wulf, a man who already has the type of reputation she wishes for herself.

Unfortunately, even though Armond has no desire to marry, he does desire Rosalind, and now that scandal threatens them both he has no choice but to offer her marriage. But what will happen when the full moon rises over London, and Rosalind discovers exactly what type of man she's fallen in love with? And as for Lord Wulf, what happens when a man destined by a curse to never love fully finds himself heading in that direction-even though he's vowed to never allow his heart to rule his emotions? As mysterious happenings surround Armond and Rosalind, as their hearts move ever closer to a full unity, and as the full moon approaches, you'll never guess of the surprises that are in store for you.

Ronda Thompson has created a delightful new series with her Wulf family, and I for one can't wait to see which brother will be featured next. Set in 1800's London, THE DARK ONE is a romantic paranormal romp that's sure to delight readers of the genre. Kudos to Ms. Thompson for this unique and exciting new series!

Im not sure how to rate this book. The story got off very well. The H/H are well developed, and even the supporting characters are decently sketched out. The story moved at really good pace. I actually finished it in one sitting. Its villain(s) is (are) worthy of being hated. So its all good so far. Even the paranormal element of the wolf curse is well women into the story... So far the book is a 5star book, that has everything you could want in a book!

And then the end comes... the curse unraveling hits. And its a total flop with a big F! The Author obviously didn't know how to end it. So She threw in this weak blah blah end. And I was left with (excuse my language) a supreme: WTF just happened moment ending. Like that's it? That's the anti-climating "grand" end of the curse? Like REALLY? I could have pulled a better one out of my sock! What a disappointment to this stellar story. Over all It is still a good read, as most of the book is breathtaking (read it in one breath). Just dont expect too much from the end.

Really liked this one. Great take on werewolf mythology. I liked both Armond & Rosalind. Rosalind is a country girl and has been tricked into going to London and living with her step brother who only sees her as a possesion. She is quite naive from being raised in the country, but she has gumption and is willing to do anything to get away from her stepbrother and believes she has found away in Armond Wulf. Armond, and his family, has been shunned by society because they are cursed ~ but society has no clue as to what the real curse is. He is the oldest of 4 brothers who have sworn off love & marriage but then he is propositioned by Rosalind and everything changes.
The pacing and development of the story was good. The main characters were well written and I found the chemistry between them was believable. The secondary characters added to the story and I am looking forward to reading about them throughout the rest of the series.

I enjoy paranormal so this was an interesting take on setting that type of genre in an earlier time period than I normally read. The main characters are believable and the story line works well. For me it was an enjoyable read and I'm not sorry for purchasing the book but it won't be one that is a "keeper" in my library.

Book is set in London 1821, and I usually like the stories set in modern times, however, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It is a romance book, but also a bit of horror & mystery thrown in. Some of the plot twists were predictable, but then others caught me off guard. The Wulf brothers are cursed by a witch to turn into a werewolf, if they fall in love. There are 3 brothers and each book in the trilogy is supposed to focus on each brother individually and their struggles with their curse and attempts to break the curse. I will read the rest of the trilogy!

What a great opening book for the trilogy. If you read book 1 you will definately want to read following two, The Untamed One and The Cursed One. The series follows the Wulf Brothers in the late 1800's and chivalry is still not dead even though they have been shunned by "polite" society. Except, Rosalind needs help in a big way and Armond may be the only one able to. They both have secrets and at what point can they trust each other enough to share them.

a Regency beauty and the beast story. this is the first in the Wild Wulfs of London series where the Wulf brothers are under a werewolf curse. i found the heroine to be a bit annoying at times doing brainless things, the villains to be stereotypical, and the hero a bit flat. not a lot of surprises, very typical stuff.

I really, really wanted to like this books because of the great premise, but it just didn't move me as I thought it would. The brother was just plain yucky and the heroine, whose name I've already forgotten, had no personality.

What a great beginning for the Wild Wulfs! This is the first historical romance I have read, and I thought it was awesome. Clasic setting in London with the oldest brother Armond whose family has been cursed...and Rosalind with her own problems that Armond so galiantly helps her deal with. I loved the characters, the setting, the dialogue and romance scenes. Nothing was disappointing. I can't wait to read the next in this three part series.
